Obama mentioned Oklahoma!!!  I didn't think he knew the state existed!!!!

To be fair, that state is still caught up in the Bush Administration.

That is true, but he talked about Oklahoma in a positive manner on the subject of education!

“Tonight, let’s declare that in the wealthiest nation on Earth, no one who works full-time should have to live in poverty, and raise the federal minimum wage to $9.00 an hour.”

YES!

I like that proposal, as well!  Dunno if it will survive the House Republicans.

Kudos for taking action on voting rights. I hope something good comes out of this.

I don't know if "I'll set up a commission" counts as action. Apartheid at the ballot box is a time-honored, enduring American tradition, and I have a feeling it's going to stick around.

Yeah, I know. But it's good to at least have the President try something and not just ignore the problem.

I was extremely impressed by Obama's speech. It's too bad a divided Congress will prevent much of his proposals from getting through.

I seriously wanted to punch John Boehner in the face when he refused to stand for that centenarian black woman from Florida who has lived through both women and blacks being denied the right to vote and still stood in line for 6 hours to do so last November.

I couldn't pay attention to Rubio's words because of his sweating, dry mouth, and finally his lung for a bottle of Poland Spring. Pretty damn funny.

I'll never understand why these guys don't pre-record these things. It's not like they ever actually respond to what the president actually said.

perhaps, being the party of business, Rubio's water bottle moment was paid product placement?

I don't understand why anybody would want to give the response, much less give it to a rising GOP star.  It's a very awkward setting.

Obama in his rhetoric seemed to be at least "triangulating" tonight. It may be a mirage, but maybe not. Maybe he is finally concerned about his legacy. It was a really a finely crafted speech, well delivered, although he went overboard on the anecdotal gun violence stuff.

Rubio flopped miserably. I thought he was far more self confident than that. And grabbing the water, as his mouth went dry with stress, was painful to watch. Sad. His speech was well written, but ...

Hasn't every GOP response to Obama's SOTUs been pretty much awful?
