It doesn't take the right away from regions to set their prison terms lower. Your assuming the federal government can force them to set them that low in the first place and I think you're mistaken. Actually I know you're mistaken. The federal government has the power to dictate terms for federal crimes but not for regional crimes, at least not in the direct way you're assuming is being done here. If that's something you are thinking you want to happen, maybe you could stop being a douche and actually work on improving the bill instead of trying to end debate.

Napoleon edited his post after I filed the motion. There were no amendments pending when I moved for cloture.

Can you prove that? When I was editing my post, it doesn't notify me of successive posts. It's likely that the first amendment was there and the second wasn't.

Anyway I put it up again because the reasons many gave for voting Nay were that "related items" were too vague, which was the PPT's own editorialized version of what I initially proposed.

I've yet to hear why obstruction of justice should remain, it's a common charge and if we're trying to minimize our nonviolent prison populations it makes sense.

I object to the refering to previous text as "editorialized", I was attempting to make it as generic boilerplate as possible. When you don't compose your own text though, you run the risk of it getting garbled. The amendment was basically a set of instructions to do something to the text, as opposed to doing it directly like most amendments. There is nothing wrong with that obviously and in this case there were no "related items" anyway. I didn't have the text in front of me when I composed it, hency why I was more generic then was necessary in this case.

Napoleon edited his post after I filed the motion. There were no amendments pending when I moved for cloture.

If cloture fails, both amendments are hostile. I will not support taking away the right of the regions to set a lower maximum sentence, and we've essentially voted on the second amendment twice already.

What was in his post then before if not amendments, if they were edited in afterwards?

I have no way of verifying one way or the other unless there is a screen shot or something.

I beleive there it is 72 hours that is given for someone to motion to assume sponsorship, followed by a 48 hour objection period on whoever does so. If no one does so, the bill is to be pulled from the floor.

We need 48 hours to be called for objections to TNF's assumption of sponsorship.

Amendment 55:35: Aye

Edit: It appears I jumped the gun with the latter vote.

As it currently stands, the prohibition of employers taking into account non-violent convictions in hiring would require companies to hire individuals even if the crime is related to the job in question. For example, someone convicted of embezzlement should not subsequently be hired as an investment banker against the employer's wishes. I'd like to propose an amendment to adopt the same language from the Workplace Privacy Bill for the provision in this bill.

First off TJ's amendment is not 55:36 for two reasons:

1) 55:36 is a Napoleon Amendment to a different
2) TJ was not a Senator in the 55th Senate and thus would be barred from offerign amendment beginning with 55. Tongue

Second of all, I don't know what in the world some of you are trying to do in this thread, especially TJ who has been here before, but good heavens people. Roll Eyes Tongue Edit: Oh sh**t its worse then that, even the Senate Dean. Tongue

Also, Senators have 48 hours to object to the assumption of sponsorship by TNF.
