My fellow atlasians,

Are you tired of corruption plaguing the government?

Are you tired of the ideological homogeneity of both dominant parties in Atlasia?

Do you desire change for the better in a difficult stage in our history?

Look No Further! As I watched my citizenship application go through, I saw many unpleasant signs of Atlas Government's corruption and quasi-totalitarian tendencies:

  • Ex-President DFW's drunken incident and subsequent attacks on the press
  • The lack of any reasonable debate between the dominant political forces
  • The Atlasian parties becoming homogenous beyond any reasonable bipartisan point, to the point where the only ideological difference between Labour and Fed becoming the ideological difference between two warring street gangs

Now, you may ask, "SamTilden, if you are so angry at the Atlas Government, what do you want to change?" Here is what I say:

  • Home rule for Nyman: All people deserve a say in governmental affairs, even Nyman's residents. Given the important nature of Nyman's ties to the federal government, keeping it a part of an official administrative region will put the occupying region (South) into enormous political influence in Nationwide affairs.
  • Providing a new, independent voice in government: Bipartisanship in any country is commendable,
and Atlasia is no different. However, it has reached a point where the two leading parties (Labor and Fed) are becoming ideologically homogenous to the point where the same agenda is dominating government, with little consideration to any other opinion.
  • Anti-Corruption: Every nation needs and deserves a government that isn't corrupt. (Note:
Long-Term goal, as NDC isn't currently in my or my allies' jurisdiction)

Given the two parties' monopoly on government (and by extension the voters), I do not expect to win. However, every voter who votes for me, votes to send a message to all of Atlasia: we want a representative Atlasia for all ideas!

How will you, as a member of the Lincoln Assembly, achieve "home rule" for a district under another region's jurisdiction? Assuming you are successful, how would this effect the right of DC citizens to vote in regional and senatorial elections? Would Nyman become a de facto fourth region with its own playable executive and legislature, and if so, how would this effect national activity in a time when the existing regions already struggle to recruit candidates for office?

Good point. NDC's home rule will be more of a supported long-term goal, as hopefully more independently-minded legislatures win seats.

The idea is that Nyman will gain a mayor-DirectDem Council government (due to the lack of population exclusively in the area), where the Mayor serves as a de facto Senate member. Essentially, it becomes a de facto region.

Endorsed. It looks like you'd be very active in the Assembly.

Thanks for your support, Governor.

I'm unqualified to vote since I have been here only 5 days (and constitution perscribes 7), but if I was here for 7, here is what my ballot would look like :
LINCOLN REGION
OCTOBER 2017 ELECTIONS
OFFICIAL BALLOT

1. This election will last for exactly 72 hours beginning at 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time) on Friday, October 20 and ending at 12:00:00 AM on Monday, October 23. All ballots cast outside of this period will be counted invalid.

2. You are eligible to vote in this election if you (a) have registered with the federal Census Bureau as a voter of one of the states of this Region; and (b) have not had your voting rights stripped as the result of deregistration or court order.

3. When voting for the Assembly, please rank the candidates that appear on the ballot in order of preference, with "1" indicating your first choice, "2" your second choice, etc. You may rank all, some, or none of the candidates on your ballot. If you wish to vote for a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot, you may do so by writing his or her name in the blank provided. If you only wish to vote for one candidate, you may mark the space next to that candidate's name with an "X" or simply type the candidate's name.

4. For the ballot question, you may choose only one option—"Yes" OR "No" OR "Abstain."

5. You are permitted, but not advised, to edit your ballot within 20 minutes of posting it in this thread. Editing your ballot more than 20 minutes after posting it in this voting booth will cause it to be counted invalid.

6. Please check over your ballot thoroughly before you click "Post". You have no excuse for casting a ballot which contains errors or does not accurately reflect your preferences. Failure to correct errors in your ballot may result in its disqualification.

What will you do for personal freedom?

As freedom and the will of the people go hand-in-hand, I shall be a warrior for both freedom for the people and responsibility in government. Some ideas:

  • Legalizing Snoop Dog's favorite thing in the world
  • Maintaining current freedoms against Govt. aggression
  • Legal Abortion
  • Right to bear arms
  • Freedom of Speech
  • The idea that if it doesn't infringe on another's rights, then it is a right.
  • Similar ideas to this: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=29615

Tilden Event (Burlington VT):

We cannot and will not allow another swamp rat to win this election, whether it may be Talley, OneJ, or whoever Labor or Federalists nominate!

NOTICE TO ALL MY SUPPORTERS:

Given the small likelihood of myself winning the Lincoln Senate Race, I ask my supporters to write me in on the Lincoln Assembly Ballot. This way, even if I lose, I can still carry the Citizens Party banner into a Government where Citizens isn't represented. I repeat, write my name in on the Lincoln ballots in the upcoming election.

Governor Lok has appointed me to the Lincoln assembly to fill the vacancy left by Blair. I shall serve you all to the best of my ability.
