Alright, I think we can (finally!) make a final projection as to who's in the Chamber of Delegates.
Not quite. Now Tim and Bagel are tied in the first round with three each.

So they both get eliminated, right?
I'd assume,  but I'm not sure who gets eliminated first.  Not sure if it changes things, but still.

It's possible to do them simultaneously, right?

Time for a senatus consultum ultimum so Governor DFW can just appoint whoever he wants to the Chamber.  /s

OFFICIAL BALLOT
of the SOUTH

A voter's ballot is valid only if the voter:

1. Is registered with the Atlasian Registrar General as a voter of a Southern state during the entire time that the poll is open (12 AM midnight EST between Thursday, January 18, 2018 and Friday, January 19, 2018 to exactly 72 hours later);
2. makes only a single post in that election thread;
3. does not edit or delete the post more than one hour after the post has been made; and
4. clearly identifies the contest in which a vote is intended to be applied, except when there is only one contest on the ballot.

by these rules, Mr. Reactionary's vote shouldn't be counted, if there was any doubt that it shouldn't.

I don't think it should count against him as he was making a clarification of who he is on the ballot, when Peebs did not.

If a poster is known by another name, Peebs has listed it before, such as in July with TheShadowyAbyss:
https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=268617.0

So Mr. Reactionary should not be faulted for an error Peebs made.

He hadn't requested to have his more commonly known name added (unlike TSA), hence the confusion.

I have been retained by TimTurner. Depending on the ultimate decision of whether the 2 disputed votes are accepted, I may be filing mandamus petitions with the Court to require our votes be counted on abuse of discretion grounds, as well as an injunction against enforcement of the rule as-applied to my vote on due process grounds.

The rules as printed were quite clear regarding TimTurner's vote - the voting period starts at midnight between Thursday and Friday, which means that it is the exact moment between the two days, not the minute. The period ends exactly 72 hours later, meaning that it ends at the exact moment between Sunday and Monday, not at the minute. And a vote is only "cast" at the moment the /FORUM server registers it. I don't like this, but it's clearly the rule.

Your vote, on the other hand, is being counted by the reasoning you stated above. Bagel's is not because he was clearly aware of the rule in advance of his vote, and did not attempt to distinguish either of his votes from a ballot.

Jake's vote is obviously invalid.

I argue that Justin's vote is invalid by the rules as set out in the ballot, but if that isn't binding then IDK.

I am relieved my vote has been counted.

As for my client, we will likely file for mandamus on the grounds that my client submitted his ballot at 11:59 pm and that the slow atlas server took half a minute to register it. The timing of the vote clearly show more than 33 seconds worth of effort. My client submitted his ballot on time, and it was the voting booth itself which caused the issue. It was an act of DAVE not human error on Tim's fault. Circumstances outside of our control made  the act of voting impossible when it legally was required to be possible. It is as if a poll worker refused to accept your paper ballot while the polling place is still required to be open. Therefore it was not within the power of the election official to not count the ballot, as it is a valid vote having been cast at 11:59.

If this is a concern, then change the law. I don't believe that the current laws allow any leeway in exigency circumstances such as this. I'd personally strongly support such a change, however.

Wow, this took me a long time for me to post. Wink

National/South/Fremont Preference Poll, January 7-14

Pollster: WXNews

I was too sick with the flu to realize to make a party membership question, but oh well Smiley

The only penalty for voting twice is the invalidation of one's ballot(s), so I doubt it.
