This bill removes totalitarian licensing requirements for all gun ownership. In addition, it removes a dumb regulation that requires all bags of non-students and faculty to be checked at the front door of schools which does not have much of a useful effect in stopping gun violence in schools. It also eliminates some useless extra bureaucracy to enforce this law which could easily be taken care of by regular law enforcement officials.

I strongly encourage the assembly to reject this attempt to turn back the clock on gun reform. We need to continue to push for reforms that make are steers safer and ensure that we do not repeal regulations that keep are citizens safe.

How do you suppose we can "turn back the clock" on protecting people's natural rights? These so-called reforms violate people's liberties in a way that does nothing to slove the root causes of violence in our society. And as Benjamin Franklin, once said "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

A final vote will start in 24 hours if there are no objections.

I will object to the final vote being taken.  This bill repeals too much of the hard-fought bill that was passed to get gun control passed in the region.
Objection not recognized! If we can fight hard to pass gun control, we can fight hard to repeal it.

I accept the name change. What I really care about is the substance in the bill rather than the name. Tongue

Since there has been no debate for the past 24 hours, I am starting a final vote on this bill. Assemblymen have 48 hours to vote or until all have voted to vote.

A vote to override the governor's veto has started. Assemblymen have the remainder of the term to vote.

Unfortunately under the assembly rules you have to motion to  override a  veto  within 48 hours of the veto.

OK, I withdraw the override vote.  Tongue
