The stated total for Owen is 126,418 but the county figures add up to 126,387. The stated total for Dickerson is 83,429 but the county figures add up to 83,448. The stated total for Wills is 40,860 but the county figures add up to 40,876.
This popular vote for United States Senator was technically only an advisory vote as prior to the adoption of the 17th Amendment in 1913, state legislatures officially elected United States Senators. By the time of the election in November 1912, the amendment had already been passed by Congress, but not yet ratified by the states. The Oklahoma Legislature unanimously ratified Owen's election on January 22, 1913.
