Special election to fill vacancy caused by the death of Thomas Walsh on March 2, 1933. Governor John Erickson appointed himself to fill the seat and resigned as governor on March 13, 1933. Erickson would subsequently lose the Democratic primary for the special election and was replaced by James Murray on November 7, 1934.
