Election Notes:

The 1895 House Journal has several misprints. The canvass misstates the date of the election: it was June 4, 1894, not June 8th (this error is acknowledged in the text). The county figures for Galloway and Lord do sum to the expected values, so those appear to be fine. The stated county figures for Kennedy are off from the state total by 10. Using the 1896 Tribune Almanac, the mistake appears to be in Josephine County. The Journal appears to have two errors for Pierce. The Tribune Almanac can be used to correct Pierce's figure in Columbia County from 558 to 556. This gets the sum of Pierce's county figures to 26,123, with the stated total in the Journal being 26,723. The almanacs have Pierce's total as 26,033. The original returns would be required to reconcile these numbers. Personally, I'm inclined to believe the stated total in the Journal is actually the misprint and 26,123 is, in fact, the correct total.
