  • The state legislature's canvass did not include the votes from Shasta and Stanislaus counties.The legislature also regarded the return for Lieutenant Governor in Mariposa County to be "informal", but counted it anyway. The Journal of Assembly gives the totals as 47,996 for Anderson and 46,206 for Purdy.
