Political Party Strength in Michigan

The following table shows the political party affiliation of elected officials in the state of Michigan from statehood in 1837 to the present.

The offices included are those of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, the names and party affiliations of Michigan's U.S. Senators, and the partisan composition in the State House, State Senate, and in Michigan's U.S. House delegation. Also included are historical offices during the time period in which they were elected. For presidential election years, the party whose ticket won Michigan's electoral votes is shown.
