Mr. Attorney General,

I have received information that implicates the Governor of the Midwest with voter intimiation (A Crime Against Atlasia under the Re-Consolidated Criminal Justice Act) and I have sent you a private message with the information I have obtained. I implore you to press charges given the serious nature of the offense.

This has been seen, thank you. I have just returned from a short trip to Germany and will deal with this case as soon as possible.

On a more general note, the office of the Attorney General currently faces a heavy workload. While we try our best to work as efficiently as possible, dealing with all the pending cases may take a bit of time.

Overview of the pending cases in the Supreme Court

- People of the Republic of Atlasia v. JoMCaR

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=203542.0

- People of the Republic of Atlasia v. Alfred F. Jones

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=203543.0

- Roe v. Attorney General ZuWo

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=203614.0

- People of the Republic of Atlasia v. Midwest Governor LeBron FitzGerald

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=203653.0

Atlasians are, of course, free to discuss these lawsuits but are asked not to clutter the above-mentioned threads where the cases are argued and trials are held.

A quick update on the trials mentioned in the previous post:

The Supreme Court of Atlasia has sentenced JoMCaR to a ban of three months from voting and officeholding.

Alfred F. Jones has been sentenced to a ban of six months from voting and two years from officeholding.

The two other cases, Roe v. Attorney General ZuWo and People of the Republic of Atlasia v. Midwest Governor LeBron FitzGerald, are still pending.

The Department of Justice appreciates various forms of constructive criticism and welcomes a public debate on the Atlasian judicial system. In my role as Attorney General of Atlasia I am always open to suggestions as to how I can improve my work.

In order to thoroughly assess some of the objections which have been made I have a few specific questions.

A quick update on the trials mentioned in the previous post:

Alfred F. Jones has been sentenced to a ban of six months from voting and two years from officeholding.

The two other cases, Roe v. Attorney General ZuWo and People of the Republic of Atlasia v. Midwest Governor LeBron FitzGerald, are still pending.

Disgusting. Which Laborite and/or women's right will be your next target?

Mr. Griffin, the first half of your post seems to imply that the office of the Attorney General is wont to prosecute certain Atlasian citizens based on their partisan affiliation rather than concrete evidence we obtain. Is my interpretation of your statement accurate?

As for the second part of your statement I defer to the comment made by Justice Oakvale. Indeed, I encourage you to have another close look at the thread started by citizen Foucaulf since my role in this lawsuit will be to defend a law passed by the Senate a considerable amount of time ago.

I implore the President to do the right thing and give both these fine Atlasians full and unconditional pardons. His Justice Department is tearing this country apart with its reckless prosecutions.

Senator Lief, while it is not part of my responsibility to comment on the claim that Alfred F. Jones and JoMCaR should be pardoned, I would like to focus on your assertion that the Department of Justice seeks to tear Atlasia "apart with its reckless prosecutions". Concretely, do you think the decision of the Attorney General to prosecute the alleged crimes in question is not justified from a legal point of view? In your view what steps should the Attorney General take when presented with evidence regarding crimes such as the ones mentioned above?

An official statement on the latest events concerning the "Civil Rigths Act of 2014" will follow shortly. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice urges everyone involved to exercise restraint and have confidence in the work of the federal and regional law enforcement authorities.

The Department of Justice has taken note of the recent formation of militias in the Midwest and the Mideast. In my position as the Attorney General of Atlasia I am concerned about these developments. At the same time it must be noted that our Constitution explicitly mentions the right of Atlasian citizens to bear arms as well as the freedom of assembly. Therefore, there is currently no reason for the Department of Justice to proceed against leaders or members of those organizations. We are, however, monitoring the activities of the Nat Turner Brigade and the Mideast Matriot Militia and are ready to take legal action if members of those groups threaten to use or commit violence.

Finally, it is essential for all of us - officeholders and citizens alike - to respect and acknowledge that our republic is built on the foundation of democracy. Any attempts of individuals and groups of people to attack those who make public use of the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression is an assault on the very foundation of our state.

The trial against LeBron FitzGerald has come to its conclusion. Following the verdict by the jury the Midwest Governor has been sentenced to a ban of six months from voting and a ban of one year on holding any office under the Republic of Atlasia.

Thank you for clarifying things, Mr. President.

Mr. Griffin is a lost cause but I ask everyone else to calm down a little. The decision to prosecute Ogis was made jointly by the Deputy Attorney General and myself. The president offered his advice but the decision was made independently.

A trial only results in a sentence if there has actually been a criminal offense. It shouldn't be necessary to stress it but we can fully trust the court to do what has to be done. The Department of Justice doesn't base its decisions whether or not to prosecute someone on a person's popularity or ideology in the game but on thorough investigations.

A reminder to everyone: Do not clutter the threads containing the court cases. Discuss cases and trials elsewhere.

That's all for now. The rest will be settled in court.

That's correct. The primary reason why Governor LeBron was tried by me was that he committed a crime against Atlasia. And even if this should have been a responsibility of a regional court the problem was that the position was vacant in the Midwest.

Mr. Griffin, do us all a favor and check the facts before spouting your angry nonsense next time.

There have been renewed calls on the office of the Attorney General to prosecute SirNick for having deleted various threads concerning Northeast Assembly affairs and his tenure as GM of Atlasia. While this behavior is clearly unacceptable, I must reiterate that there is no legal basis for the Department of Justice to take action against deregistered users; those who are no longer on the Atlasian voter rolls cannot be prosecuted.

We are delighted to report that the treasurer of Atlasia's Patriotic Militia has been arrested by FBI agents. Federal law enforcement authorities will continue to do everything in their power to apprehend everybody else who has been involved in the most recent wave of terrorism on Atlasian soil.

PMA Treasurer Arrested

(Pierre, SD) - Acting on a tip, the FBI agents arrested Norman Blythe, identified as the Patriotic Militia of Atlasia's treasurer and overall third-in-command. He was apprehended in a motel in rural South Dakota.

Blythe, a longtime friend of the group founder, Rowan Cotton (now incarcerated) and a fellow Alabama native, was among the PMA's founders.

Authorities are still unable to identify remaining top two leaders.
