I'm not sure who exactly is raving about LBJ. There's plenty of insulting him, too.

I'm one of LBJ's few fans on the Forum.

As Alcon said, the opinion of him here on both sides of the aisle seems to be mostly negative.

Because he genuinely cared about the disadvantaged in this country. The same can't be said for any president since(Carter came close).

Civil Rights programs (Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, etc.) and the Great Society, mainly. I disagreed with his Vietnam policy looking at it in retrospect, but at the time it seemed sensible, given the (mis)information that he had.

The economy was pretty good while LBJ is in office, and was done without running up a massive debt.

I second Kodratos's opinion about caring about the disadvantaged.

Because you fail to really support it. I think all candidates fundamentally want to help the disadvantaged; some persue it more than others. LBJ did.

That's like saying Bush just did Iraq to get the hawk vote.

Stupid? Remember South Carolina in 2000?

I am a Bush supporter by the way.

And he gets it from his dad, who was also a dirty campaigner(against Dole in the 88 primaries, and against Dukakis)
