Because all of you would be so willing to talk to Tom Cotton's constituents? Tongue

"All of us" weren't elected to represent Tom Cotton's constituents, he was.
"All of us" are not being paid to "talk" to Tom Cotton's constituents, but Cotton is.
Do your job, or get out.

There is no logical reason to argue that alcohol or tobacco taxes are good but soda taxes are not.

Alcohol is much worse than Soda

This highlights our need for a "Lame As " thread.

We're forgetting the fact that some posters on this forum feel it necessary to treat everything like it's a legitimate argument, even though it's super obvious that the poster is trolling. Pretty sure it's called Autism.

His seat just went from tilt D to tilt R.

Shut up literally no one except some wrinkly faced NRSC guy will give a sh*t about the shutdown in like a month and a half.

I hope Democrats keep the Government shut down as long as possible. They should not reopen the government until Dreamers are granted permanent status.

Democrats should not be listening to college activists from Australia, IMO.

Honestely, I don't care. That's his personal stuff. FDR, JFK and LBJ also had affairs and still were great presidents. Trump is of course a incomptent fool, but for other reasons.

The American electorate, who can barely be bothered to vote and who have let the political process be hijacked by performative hucksters, extremists and special interests via their apathy

There are things to like about every state.  Now, that's not necessarily me saying that I would be willing to live in every state, but there are certainly reasons to go to any state and things to like about all of them- and there are plenty of good people anywhere you go.  I would probably even expand this to say every congressional district.

Reaganfan is a much better representation of the median Republican voter than any other Atlas user. If anythhing, he’s more moderate than the average Republican.

Signed,
A Republican

Which is pretty terrifying, isn't it?

As long as we have dunces (aka--Atlas RINOs) that keep on voting for the GOP in the general election because they irrationally cling to this bizarre idea that the GOP is anything other than a bunch of Michael Naso's, what can you do?

Remember 2002 Georgia kiddies, being an amputee is simply no guarantee against the party of chickenhawks.

Yeah, it's not wise to bet against the hypocrisy and malice of the right-wing. Trump attacked McCain for being a prisoner of war, the family of a fallen war hero, dodged the draft due to "bone spurs," joked about experiencing his "own personal Vietnam" avoiding STDs, disrespected the widow of a fallen soldier, and now McConnell went out of his way to prevent military personnel from being paid. None of that has or will affect the way the self-proclaimed "real Americans," "patriots," and "supporters of our troops" embrace and champion the same politicians who routinely disrespect and endanger our soldiers and their families.

In the event Duckworth decides to run and/or Trump attacks her for her military service, his supporters will simply do as outlined in my signature.

Speaking as someone whose family is from Ohio, the only people who live in Ohio these days are the ones who don't have the good sense to move somewhere else. No shock that figure disproportionately includes Deplorables.

Columbus and Cincinnati are great cities, and Ohio is the best state in the Midwest

Be careful about rooting for the shutdown. It's not a good thing to shutdown the Government of America over the concerns of foreigners who are inconsequential to American life.

One of the ways that thousands of Americans have qualified as DREAMers is that they have successfully served in the military, so you might want to be cautious about how you pass judgment on people there, Mike.

Whatever happened to you is your business and your business alone, and you don't owe any of us an explanation. But it truly boggles us that you keep calling attention to with posts like this.

Yank2133's back bone is getting exposed. It's not very strong.

Whatever, dude.

I actually want to see something done about the dreamers. I just don't think Democrats shutting the government for eternity is going to get them anywhere.

If you wanted someone done for the dreamers you could of lasted more than 2 days to do something. Now nothing will happen and Democrats look weak like usual.

You and your buddies helped elect Trump. Back then the future of the DREAMers wan not as important as you feeling good and ideologically pure. So please, do everybody a favor: sit down and STFU while other people try to clean up the mess you made.

This is why W Bush > Trump

I mean yes you could disagree with Bush’s policies but he didn’t embarrass the country worldwide

Bingo. We are in a whole new class of awful.

It's not just that. There are other Presidents who did embarassing or shameful or stupid things. Not with Trump's relentless awful pettiness, but Nixon, Johnson and others could do and say equally bad stuff.

But with Trump that's all there is. There is nothing more in Trump's head regarding India than making fun of its PM's accent. Nothing. Everyone reading this knows that, whether they admit it or not. He is a pathetic hollow shell of a human being, with the intellect of a child.

Manchin flirted with dropping out, citing annoyance with the Senate and Democratic disrespect for moderates, but is running for reelection.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/23/us/politics/manchin-reelection-this-place-sucks.html

Wow, I hadn't realized he didn't file for re-election. Close one.

Yep.

That is part of the plan to appeal to the "bubba vote". Don't take everything from a politician literally. Trying to portray himself as one of them with his background, talking about dropping out because of lack of progress, throwing around smack like not giving a bleep about reelection, this is all calculated, trust me. Joe Manchin could not have survived this long by being a dummy. He is a brilliant and very strategic politician, truly the last of his kind in WV. Try and name me at least one other living democrat from the state today that could win it statewide on a federal level in a normal election. Barring Ojeda and maybe, just maybe Perdue.

Menendez is legally on solid ground and morally indefensible.

I hope he gets more credible challengers in both parties thanks to this news, but I fear this effort is a political haranguing rather than a serious investigation (as was the Obama administration's).

Considering Republican opposition to affordable healthcare being available to everyone is by their worst trait, I suppose I'd say FF.

As has been said a thousand different times by a thousand different people, simply because conservatives don't support GOVERNMENT providing a service doesn't mean that conservatives don't believe in the utility/necessity of said service in the first place. The current system under Obamacare has been a disaster and the system before Obamacare was a disaster, but the system previous to Obamacare was absolutely, in no way, a free market. Even before Obamacare, government spending on healthcare in the United States was some of the highest in the world. The best solution is to move to a system of increased competition, person-centered (instead of employer-centered) insurance, increased use of HSAs, as well as other market reforms. Lower insurance costs resulting from there reforms will ensure that poorer Americans can afford health insurance for themselves.
