Moonrise Kingdom

After my first viewing, I'm convinced that it's Wes Anderson's best film.

Finally got to watch Up. Truly beautiful film, so simple and at the same time so strong in feelings.

After my first viewing, I'm convinced that it's Wes Anderson's best film.

I saw it today, too, and I agree.  I think it's everything he's tried to accomplish in most of his other movies but with a story that actually flows.  It had all the familiar Anderson elements but it seem less forced... well, except for the overuse of the zoom out into draw background thing he loves to do.

Same. For whatever reason it seemed a lot more real than the first Spiderman movies. It didn't seem like it was trying too hard.

Also, the chemistry between all the actors was fantastic. Huge props to the dude playing the uncle.

Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D

It was my first time seeing a 3D movie, and I liked the effects but they could have done more impressive with that. Otherwise, decent movie for such a type of film.

Yeah, Martin Sheen tends to be awesome.

Ah yes, Martin Sheen. Funny, those ups and downs in an actors' career. For a time during the 1990s, it really seemed he'd be stuck with doing embarrassing b-movies forever. Low points included playing cheesy villains in Project ALF (the TV movie sequel to the TV show ALF) and the infamously horrible superhero film Spawn. Then came The West Wing and it literally saved his reputation and his career. Since then, he's cast again in movies like Martin Scorsese's The Departed or good superhero films like The Amazing Spider-Man.

The Hunger Games. There was a pacing problem, I felt like it was too long even though also felt like there were bits from the book left out, which almost always happens but in this case was a bit too obvious since characters were brought up as if they were important but got little screen time. However the movie was quite visually impressive and worked. Ending was kind of weird, it was like a disguised sequel hook, but I'm sold on seeing the sequel.

I took my 15-year old sister to see the Katy Perry movie yesterday; I like her music too myself. It was pretty good.

Amazing Spiderman.

Long. WAYY too long. Too many boring scenes of characters talking about nothing I cared about. But the action and style were better tha Raimi's. The sequels should be better.

Savages.

Be aware beforehand that the ending will piss you off, and you'll probably enjoy it more. It was very solid up until then, and then it's as if Oliver Stone wanted to pull a prank on the audience.

Yes, I saw that too and had heard the ending was awful.  All I could do was laugh when it happened.

Ah, that brings back memories. Remember watching that in the cinema when it came out. It is a pretty great film.

Last night I watched Days of Heaven by Terrence Mallick. Not as good as Badlands, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

The Amazing Spiderman

I would have preferred Raimi's version. But I absolutely loved Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben.

Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson. I actually thought it was one of his best.

Bobfat Goldtit's new movie God Bless America

If you like dark dark comedy and hate most of the current pop culture in the west, you'll love this movie.

Torch Stone Trilogy. Very gay but rather touching.

Before that I re-watched Tommy.

Saw The Social Network the other day (I'd already seen some of it before). Difficult to follow at times (especially around the mid-point or so) but a good flick overall.
