It occurs to me that it would be a good idea for the Chairman to issue a formal statement on behalf of the Party regarding the charges (because there will certainly be charges) against Xahar. While it's pretty clear that what Xahar may have done had nothing to do with the Party, attempts will be made to use this scandal to smear and tar the Party all the same. That's the way things work here.

Calling on Xahar to leave the party is a bit extreme, don't you think? Condemning his alleged actions or calling on 'the truth' to come out would be better in my view.

I just want it known that Im not happy about any of this either, as I was one of his most vocal defenders. But I still don't think expulsion from the party is a reasonable sentence.

Suspension, as Sib just said, is likely to happen anyway.
