Did Ron Paul really say his campaign has experienced "steady growth" throughout these contests? 21% to 13% is steady growth. Mmmmmhmmmm.

I am hearing through the grapevine that "nearly 6,000 people" wrote in Stephen Colbert.

Write-ins aren't allowed, I thought. Over 6,000 voted for Cain, if that's what you mean.

I thought they were electronic ballots, and it was impossible to write in a name.

That would give him almost as many votes as Herman Cain!

Which, obviously, is why you'd write directly on the voting machine.

And then they'd have to throw out the machine. If only getting rid of black box voting was that easy.

Cain got over 6000 votes, including 1,100 in charleston alone, which bear Perry, Huntsman andBachmann easily. We vote electronically so we couldn't write anyone in.

So looks like we'll get an interesting primary after all. Smiley

Why did Santorum do so well in the Charlotte suburbs?

Well York County was the home of down-market televangelists Jim & Tammy Bakker, in which they built their religious Disneyland. You are probably too young to remember them. My brother and I visited that particular Disneyland about 3 months after it closed, but alas could not talk our way in for a viewing of its attractions. We commiserated with a nice black lady at the gate about just how sad it all was, that the dream had died.

York County just ain't Romney country. So with him so anemic there, that left a bigger chunk of the anti Romney for Santorum to share as a guess, and some chunk of the anti-Romney are also anti-Newt.

If you divided the Santorum/Gingrich vote equally between the two candidates, they'd still beat Romney.

The old hotel or building is still there, can actually see it from the entrance to my parents community/subdivision (just over the border in Indian Land).

It actually appears the precinct where that Disneyland was in, was won by Rick with Romney in last (Nation Ford)

Well, for the first time in history of modern primaries, three diffrent candidates won three first contests.
Shame that this probably can't go on forever. Every state won by a different candidate would make for a wonderful map. Sad

In their speeches after the results, Romney looked like the victor and Gingrich the runner-up. Gingrich's campaign made a mistake by not positioning celebratory supporters behind the candidate.

What makes Abbeville County such a Paul stronghold (22%)?

Speaking further to the delusion of Paultards, a friend of mine posted on Facebook this morning that the "Christians" (yes, in quotes) helped split the vote in the "bastion of Evangelicaloids" that is South Carolina to allow Paul to take third place last night. Now never mind the fact that the man is clearly in fourth and was clearly in fourth for almost the entire evening...

You have to admit, South Carolina (and Florida will be too) never was prime Paul territory by any means, he just got a small bump from around 6% to 15% from a decent New Hampshire performance. You didn't see me talking about the death of Santorum and the delusional-ness of his supporters after getting 10% in New Hampshire, since New Hampshire clearly isn't a state that Santorum is geared towards.

Also, Willard Mitt Romney is actually named after (along with fellow tycoon Willard Marriott) his cousin Milton 'Mitt' Romney.
