Not sure how familiar coastal people are with tornado watches or warnings. The watches are pretty vague and meaningless. They'll pop one up even for storms that aren't strong or are far away. Not even worth raising an eyebrow over, really. They usually incorporate large sections of a state and last for many hours. A tornado warning, on the other hand, is a serious thing. It means an actual tornado has been observed nearby. In most cities, you will hear sirens if there is a tornado warning. They used to do them county by county, but lately, they've switched to specific polygons that more appropriately represent the danger of each particular storm.

US National Weather Service Norman Oklahoma
A tornado watch will be issued soon for much of Oklahoma and parts of north Texas. Stay alert! We expect storms to start developing between now and 2pm

Nobody else here is from that area.  Who is "we"?

Pluralis majestatis.

Yes, he has a habit of that.  We, of the cognoscenti, however, avoid this behavior.  Wink

I think he copied and pasted that from NWS Norman's Facebook or Twitter.

Bushie, instead of 100 threads on your fb, have you considered just adding to 1 thread?

Why doesn't he just post in his user group instead of both? It gives no one a reason to follow his group if he's just going to post on his facebook anyway.

I'm okay, folks! We had to take shelter, and the hail busted Grandma's back windshield.  My car was spared.  We took shelter at the church, which is underground, but no carport or covering.

News says Moore, OK got hit hard by a tornado. Isn't that where Bushie's house is? Hope he's ok.

So you can mock Jeff's religion, because religion mocks itself; that has essentially no impact on getting Jeff to stop doing harmful habits.

Jeff doesn't even act like a real Christian. Does Jesus approve of lying, taking advantage of others while avoiding any responsibility? "Religion" is a very useful for him as an excuse to keep his ways.

My best to you and your loved ones Jeff. Very scary indeed. If I get deployed to Oklahoma, I'm forcing you to workout with me. Thoughts, prayers etc. etc.

Yes Jeff, I hope you and yours are all okay.  It sounds like the painful memories of 1999 have been rekindled today Sad

Glad to hear you guys are okay! Luckily Austin is a little bit south of tornado alley, so we never got hit by anything, but we did tornado drills and learned all about hiding in a closet or room without windows. Scary stuff.

Oh, man, 30-40 children have likely perished at an elementary school in Moore that was destroyed.  They have recovered 7 bodies of children who drowned in a pool of water and there are an estimated 20-30 more children still inside and there appears to be no survivors. Cry

I will definitely be taking a walk tomorrow, if nothing else but to clear my head and try to come to grips with the massive loss of life and destruction.  I have so many emotions surfacing right now.
