Ed Rendell (D) 45% Lynn Swann (R) 42% Ed Rendell (D) 43% Bill Scranton (R) 40% Bill Scranton announced that he was dropping out of the race during the poll's duration. The party make-up was 235 Democrats (47.3%), 196 Republicans (39.4%), and 56 independents or members of other parties (11.3%). An additional 10 (2.0%) refused to provide party affiliation information. Fifty-two percent of voters were female; 48 percent were male.
