About this Poll

Voters slightly favor Republican State Attorney General Tom Corbett over Democrat Dan Onorato in the race for governor, according to a statewide poll conducted last Tuesday through Thursday for The Times Leader 2010 Election Poll.

The poll was conducted by Critical Insights Research for Precise Pragmatic Direction on behalf of the newspaper.

The poll has an error margin of +/- 4 percent, according to MaryEllen FitzGerald, president of Critical Insights of Portland, Maine.

FitzGerald said the random, statewide poll of 600 likely voters across Pennsylvania was conducted as a baseline measurement effort in mid-September. The survey instrument was developed by Critical Insights, in collaboration with The Times Leader.

Interviews were conducted by telephone, using a computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) system. In order to qualify for inclusion in the survey, respondents had to:

Be a registered voter in Pennsylvania.

Indicate that they voted in the most recent presidential election in November 2008.

Say they were likely to vote in the upcoming election on Nov. 2.
