About this Poll
Peters, a third-term U.S. representative, garnered 37 percent support of likely Michigan voters, compared with 36 percent for Land, the former two-term Michigan secretary of state, according to the survey by Lansing consulting firm Lambert, Edwards & Associates and Denno Research. The poll has a plus-minus margin of error of 4 percentage points, making it a statistical tie.

About a quarter of the respondents were unsure, signaling both candidates have room to grow in the year before the November 2014 election to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Detroit.

The live telephone operator poll was conducted from Nov. 12 to Nov. 14 of 600 registered voters planning to vote in the 2014 elections. Twenty percent of calls were conducted by cellphone.
