Analysis

The Republican party has lost its soul, and no longer deserve to win this election. The Reagan revolution is over.

The efforts against terrorism in the Middle East will fail. Democracy in the Middle East will fail. Free market economics have failed. The Republican party has failed itself and more importantly the ideologies it was founded on.

Put more bluntly, the Republican party is not currently a relevant factor in national politics. The Democrats will pick up at least 7, possibly 8 or 9 Senate seats and 20-35 in the House. In the next 10 years, the Republican party will become a regional party only relevant in rural states.

The President is now irrelevant and probably has been for at least a year. John McCain is irrelevant and will lose this election in a fashion reminiscent of Adlai Stevenson, by at least 9 points and possibly upwards of 12. 'Joe the Plumber' cannot save John McCain any more than Joe Lieberman can.

In short, it's over.
