That stat was obviously bogus, something I realized since the trailer, but Ben Affleck no doubt knows more about Boston and Charlestown than anyone on the forum.

Sure he does, but it's easy to find out enough to know the image he keeps trying to push of all these "uber-cool" badass Boston things is bull.

I watched some of this the other day. Unbearably boring. I feel for you if you paid $10 to see it.

Yeah, the worst thing about The Town was the accents. I think I'd kill myself if I had to perpetually spend my time around people who talk like that.  Other than that I enjoyed it (the robbery scenes were especially well done), but it was clearly inferior to The Departed.

Kevin Smith films, Chasing Amy and Dogma.   Also, Galaxy Quest and The Search for John Gissing. (Guess what the shared factor between the last three films.)

Dogtooth, a really cool Greek movie. It's kind of a black comedy, except you never really laugh because it's so dark. One of those films where it's best to go in not having heard anything about it.

True Grit - I loved it.  Jeff Bridges was absolutely amazing.

The lady wanted to see Little Fockers...so I obliged.  Not as bad as I expected.  DeNiro has good comedic chops and saved it from being an utter disaster.

The King's Speech. Good atmosphere, good acting, good script. Oscar bait for Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush, for sure.

Finally saw True Grit. Honestly found it kind of boring. The first quarter or so was probably the most interesting bit, like when the girl debated with the horse breeder. All the actors were very impressive though, and Brolin was indeed underused.

Defiance...though I don't like Daniel Craig and still believe the movie had a wonderful plot and was only par for a movie that could have been great.

Moon. It was fine. I knew what the twist was going into it, though.

King Arthur, the score is somewhat originial for Hans Zimmer, though the Davinci code and Pirates of the Caribbean all mash together with it

The Hurt Locker.  I greatly enjoyed it, what a fine movie.  But what does the title mean?

I assume it refers to the box the protagonist has with all the bomb stuff.

It's a commonly used term in the military for such type of personal storage units.

Oh, I see.  I missed that.  It didn't seem to be the main focus of the movie at all.

The term hurt locker has been around for decades before the movie. It basically means a world of $hit. Like if you were going to beat someone up- you would say I'm going to put him in a hurt locker. Similar to many terms I'm sure it originated in the military.

I saw Avatar a few days ago.  Pretty average movie, imo. The anti-capitalist and anti-militarism message has been done and done better by many before.

The Road

Brilliant. I guess a lot of critics couldn't handle the fact that the end of the world would be, you know, pretty depressing.
