$1,000 monthly expenses... does that include rent, insurance, and utilities?

With the lack of boxes, I've resorted to using trash bags.  The living room is becoming bare.  I am trying to pack things up during commercials.  I can't miss The Biggest Loser. Smiley  Once the show is over, I will run like mad getting everything packed up and then hopefully get started loading the car around 9:30 pm!  Then, it will be time to grab  a quick rest and be awake by 6:00 am, turn in my cable box and modem at 7:00 am, come back and clean a little bit, get gas at 8:45 am and be on the road headed south by 9:00 am.  I should arrive in Kingman, AZ by 6:00 pm MT.  The second day, I'll have some snow to deal with, but it will be just one road, I-40, and plan to spend the night in Amarillo, TX.  I plan on leaving Kingman by 6:00 am and should be in Amarillo by 6:30 pm CT.  Thursday, I'll wake up and leave by 7:00 am and should be to my parents by 11:00 am.

That does not include paying my parents rent and utilities which will come in time, but it does include my 6 month car insurance broken down month by month.

OK, if that only includes insurance, what on earth are you spending $850/month on (assuming you're not getting bamboozled for insurance costs)?

I've stupidly racked up a lot of credit card debt, plus a student loan, and a bank loan., plus a small life insurance payment each month.

I couldn't help but laugh at this!

I've got the car packed up except for the items I need to pack in the morning (laptop, cable box/modem, router, toiletries, and bedding.  Its definitely a crammed car!  Nothing else can fit in there, that's for sure!  I'm going to try to be up by 5:00, so I can finish cleaning the apartment and be ready to turn in my cable stuff at 7:00, fill up, call mom that I'm on my way and head south.  My thinking is if I can leave a little earlier than I had planned, while still getting enough sleep, then I may be able to push it into Flagstaff instead of Kingman.  That way, when the snow hits Wednesday morning, I can quickly drive out of it into New Mexico where it should turn into rain.  That would take about 75 minutes off Wednesday's drive.  Also note, that if I wake up early enough Wednesday morning, I might be able to push it all the way to my parents.  It would be a 16 hour day, but it would save on a hotel bill.  So, if I left Flagstaff by 4:00 am MT, which is 5:00 am CT, I could be home by 8:30-9:00 pm.  Just thinking out loud!

Ok, here are the final plans.  Due to a threat of snow moving into Northern Arizona Wednesday Morning, I am going to try to leave here right at 7:20 after I turn in the Cable stuff and make it all across Arizona and stop for the night in Gallup, New Mexico which is just 140 miles west of Albuquerque/16 miles east of the Arizona border to get out ahead of the storm.  This would get me to Gallup by 9:30 pm for a 14 hour day.  That would make it only 11 1/2 hours to Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

So it's going to snow, and you're broke, yet you're adding multi-state detours to your drive? Right.

80-70-35. Not hard.

So, with that said, it is 11:00 pm MT, and I am going to bed. I'm going to try to wake up by 5:00 am. I will post when I get ready to leave.

No, explain why your adding almost 10 hours to what could be a 17 hour drive.

Or you could just leave via Wyoming and not have to deal with snow. Do your parents know about your route?

And why would anyone want to jack off in a shed like that?

That's the most believable part of this whole thing!

And perhaps the best evidence that Torie does not understand the plight of the poor.

You're taking a "detour" that increases your travel time by 70% JUST to avoid snow? And now your new route has snow anyway? You know, the interstates are pretty much always salted well in advance, especially in states more accustomed to large amounts of snowfall. I don't know too much about AZ's climate but I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually easier for you to go through WY than AZ.

Of course, this is BushOK though and there's always a subtext. Anyone wanna bet he has some elaborate excuse for visiting a casino when he's just "passing through" Vegas and ends up spending away all the gas money his parents gave him?

edit- then he would get stuck there and poor Joe might actually have to put up with him Sad

He just wants to be able to see Vegas and California. He might as well just drive straight into LA.

BushOK are you carrying all the usual emergency supplies for people who will be trapped in snowbanks?  I don't know what those or, or even if any preparation is really possible for such an eventuality, but you might want to do a google search about that before departing.  At least pick up a drifter in case you need to resort to cannibalism while stuck in the white stuff.

Maybe he can gamble away his computer...

That would be quite the surrealist ending to the Update Saga.  BushOK finds himself in a downward spiral, and loses everything, eventually even his computer.  Without his computer, he's unable to log in to Atlas to finish the narrative, and his ultimate fate is left up to the viewer's imagination.

How does Bushie get home if he spends all his money? I suppose they'd have to send him money by Western Union ad he sleeps in his car. Do white people even know how to use Western Union?

Yup... more wasted money.  And all these little things add up.  That's my point with the juice.  Did drinking juice make Jeff broke?  Of course not.  But the mentality behind the juice did.  He has so many of these "little" things he likes to spoil himself on.

Juice - $400/year
"Treating" himself once a week - +$500/year
Changing all his registration twice - +$200

That's $1,000 of bad choices this year alone.

Plus, when he buys fish sticks and all his crappy food, they're multiple times more expensive than if he made his own.  If he wants fish sticks, he could make his own for probably half the cost.

And taking this detour which will cost him an extra night in hotel costs and depending on what he drives, about $40-80 worth of gas.

Yeah, unless there's an actual snowstorm (of course knowing Bushie he probably would consider this a big snowstorm, the Interstates are completely clear. I should know this better than anyone. Of course Bushie might be aware too and the rest of your explanation is correct.
