My Congressman, Norm Dicks, says that if Hillary doesn't "win big" today he's going to flip from Hillary to Obama in order to help end the contest quicker. He also seemed to imply that there are other House members planning on doing that as well.

The Financial Times endorsed Obama yesterday, which I mention in as much as I was very surprised to see the FT actually make an endorsement as for any other reason. (I happened to agree with a lot of the comments made, though I think it gets a bit carried away towards the end.)

If Obama loses by 10+ points, it is in the superdelegates' best interests to hold off on any endorsements.

Good, I like Norm Dicks though I think his support of Clinton has been one of his more stupid moves.

Rep. John Tanner (D-TN) has endorsed Clinton:

"In my opinion, the best person to lead this critical effort is Hillary Clinton. Hillary is a smart, pragmatic leader who understands the grave situation our country faces, with a $9 trillion debt, much of which is borrowed from foreign countries. Now, more than ever, our nation needs a leader like Sen. Clinton who can work with others to return to fiscal sanity."

I didn't realize that Hillary's debts were quite that bad.

Do you think he will?

Also, are there any other big name Democrats in Indiana or North Carolina who haven't endorsed? (big-name congressmen, former governors, former senators, national figures from those states, etc.)

IIRC, none of Indiana's current congressmen have endorsed except for Andre Carson. Obama has the endorsement of three of NC's congressmen; the other four have not endorsed (all had endorsed Edwards originally).

Reps. Peter Visclosky, Joe Donnelly, Brad Ellsworth and Baron Hill in Indiana.

Reps. Bob Etheridge, Mike McIntyre, Brad Miller, Heath Shuler and five DNC members in North Carolina.

That's correct, Verily.

Senator Bayh, former Governor Joe Kernan, former Secretary of State Joe Hogsett and former first lady Judy O'Bannon have all endorsed Clinton. My Mayor, Tom Henry, has not endorsed anyone yet.  He has introduced both Clinton and Obama at local rallies. South Bend Mayor Stephen Luecke and Former Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard have endorsed Obama.

As I said before Super Tuesday, the NYT has been trying to have its cake and eat it, too. For months, now.

There is a former senator who hasn't endorsed.

And don't count on him doing so until the Convention.

Word is that Congressman Bob Brady (PA 1) will be backing Obama since he overwhelmingly won his district. I have to imagine that this is something Brady doesn't really want to do though. Either way, that's another super delegate for Obama.

Probably a good thing there's talk of a black primarying him then since that's most likely the reason.

...

Not that that would matter since the primary has passed. I really doubt he'd get a primary in 2010 over not backing Obama.

PHOENIX, AZ — Today newly elected Arizona Democratic Party First Vice Chairwoman and Superdelegate Charlene Fernandez endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president.

“Senator Barack Obama is strengthening the Democratic Party by bringing in new voters, young and old, into the process. I believe Senator Obama has the best ability to win the White House in November and lead this country forward.”

Fernandez, who was elected as first vice chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party today,  is Senator Obama’s 241st  Superdelegate endorsement. Senator Obama is now 290 delegates away from winning the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

Chicago, IL – Today, United States Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) endorsed Barack Obama for president, citing his ability to rise above the issues that divide us, end the war in Iraq, bring universal health care, and make America energy independent.

Senator Bingaman said, “Today, I am announcing my support for Barack Obama for president and declaring my intention to vote for him at the Democratic convention.

“Our nation faces a daunting number of critical challenges: reasserting America’s leadership in the world, meeting our needs for energy independence, addressing global warming, making healthcare accessible and affordable, positioning our economy to effectively compete globally, and extricating ourselves from the war in Iraq, to name a few.

“To make progress, we must rise above the partisanship and the issues that divide us to find common ground. We must move the country in a dramatically new direction.

“I strongly believe Barack Obama is best positioned to lead the nation in that new direction.”
