I live in KY, even though I don't like McConnell I'm pretty confident he's going to win.

So Biden's going to campaign for Grimes, but Obama won't.  That's... very interesting.
You see, Biden is white.

I think you're overestimating racism in Kentucky.

Because people strongly dislike Obama, for both his political and cultural liberalism. However, Biden's white, working-class, old-school Dem background makes him more acceptable to voters outside of liberal areas that are still friendly to state-level Democrats.

A huge reason Obama picked Biden was his ability to go into places like Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc. and rally Democratic support for Obama, by associating himself with big-O to soften the suspicion of el Presidente.

And he can do this even moreso at downballot races.

So how well does everyone see Bevin doing? My guess is 34-37%.

He'll come much closer to winning the primary than the polls show, but he won't win it.

I agree. My guess is 45-49%. Tongue Which would be a dream situation for Allison.

Debbie Stabenow was in Northern Kentucky on Monday to support Grimes.

Quite odd.  Stabenow, AFAIK, has no ties to the state and Michigan is quite a ways from Kentucky...

She's a female Senator that can attract fundraisers and support without giving the Republicans much attack fodder. Pretty good choice.

I suppose, but Mark Warner or Tim Kaine come off as better choices to me if you're going to get senators from other states to campaign for Grimes.

I think she's already come out against misnamed "right-to-work" laws, so I'll give her the benefit of a doubt on other major issues, unless I find out otherwise.

This. Seeing that Grimes has the support of the Senate's Ag committee chair can only be a plus with those who work in agriculture.

With regards to the Stabenow apperance, Grimes has made advocating for women a centerpiece of her campaign --

http://alisonforkentucky.com/on-the-issues/

In Kentucky the Agriculture chairwoman is likely a more welcome figure than Barbara Boxer or Tammy Baldwin.  Stabenow's record shows a focus on working-class issues and I think Grimes is aware that economic populism can play in her state.

There is another possible connection, albeit one environmentalists would not appreciate.  As the senator representing Motor City, Stabenow has been fairly lax in regulating the energy industry.  Coal is a major industry in Kentucky.

Who was it who said Bevin is to the 'left' of McConnell, again? Tongue
