Coleman +143 according to StarTrib, 30% recounted, but only 8% in Minneapolis.

it's becoming more difficult to continue to expect the worst.

What is the worst?

It makes you think why Coleman's lead is shrinking so fast.

Keep in mind the counts don't include the challenged ballots, and Coleman has more challenges. Word on the street is also that his people are making rather frivolous ones as well when voter intent is obvious, such as the check mark one or the infamous one in my sig.

Probably a tabulation error when votes were first counted. Someone read a 40 as a 90 or something. Changes in recounts are certainly not necessarily fraudulent. In fact, the current results are indicating that, if Franken wins, it will be a "clean" win. That need not hold, of course.

Recount so far:
Coleman: -212
Franken: -126

New Coleman lead: 129 votes

Do any Rossi fans remember the significance of that number? Wink

SOS has it updated.

Coleman lead at 129 (-86).  360 challenged by Coleman, 375 challenged by Franken. 51%P counted, 42%V counted.  Still skews Coleman by about 3%.

I'll work through the numbers and update the table in a second.

Looks like Franken's observers got the memo about challenging Coleman ballots.

They appear to be ahead of the SoS right now, so this is the most current number.

Can someone explain the chances of a flip for those of us who totally haven't been paying attention?

What's really funny is to notice to counties where the party's observer went a little nuts in challenging ballots...  Tongue

How does a newspaper get the results before the agency in charge of counting the results? Huh

Probably by talking to election officials in the local area.  For example, the Strib is 10% ahead of the SOS in Hennepin.

Coleman is up by 3% in the current recount.

http://electionresults.sos.state.mn.us/20081104/SenateRecount.asp

One would guess that Franken's best precincts have yet to be recounted. Despite that, he has gained close to 100 votes over Franken. I'm not sure what to read into this, but it certainly isn't bad news for Franken.

Also, the challenges are just about even now. 414 for Franken and 409 for Coleman.

Would only happen by major court order (such that can't be done in the weeks between finishing the recount and January 6th) and I consider the chances of that to be quite low.
