McAuliffe vs. McDonnell. How many of you will support McDonnell over Terry.

I said that I'd support McDonnell and I'm not going back off from that. I will however slit my wrists, emo-style.

I would first like to say that it is repulsive to me that a man who -until very recently- had paid virtually no attention to Virginia politics and has not cut his teeth running for office in the state now thinks he can practically buy the governor's mansion seemingly on a whim.  All the others at least have dedicated their lives to public service in the Old Dominion.

That said, I am still only considering voting for Bob McDonnell in this unfortunate scenario -my decision is not yet set in stone.

Mike Signer was LG candidate #2 to file. Jon Bowerbank and Pat Edmonson supposedly have enough signatures, but neither have done so yet, for some reason. It's starting to look like Jody Wagner will have a clear path to the LG nomination at this point; one establishment candidate vs. three insurgent/blogger/whatever candidates usually means the establishment wins.

New DEM Primary Poll by PPP:

Brian Moran: 22%
Terry McAuliffe: 18%
Creigh Deeds: 15%
Undecided: 45%

PPP surveyed 740 likely Virginia Democratic primary voters from March 27th through 29th. The survey’s margin of error is +/-3.6%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

Not bad! You'd have thought Satan was running away with it by now...

Moran would be awesome.

You forgot the all-important Lt. Governor numbers (with the previous month's polling in parentheses):

Jody Wagner - 21 (9)
Jon Bowerbank - 4 (3)
Pat Edmonson - 4 (6)
Mike Signer - 4 (5)

Surprise, surprise, Jody is consolidating support. A lot of undecideds, naturally, but just as a reminder, Leslie Byrne won the four-way 2005 LG primary with 33% of the vote, so 21% is not a bad place to be right now.

Also, it looks like Bowerbank's campaign is flatlining, considering he's been running the longest of all the candidates and has yet to eke out any positive movement.

Not bad at all.  45% undecides bodes well for Deeds, if he can get his voters out in the Southwest.

Terry's only raised $4.2 million in the first quarter, so he's not doing too well

What have Deeds and Moran raised?

Let's just say that $1 million for Senatorial candidates is phenomenal for a first-quarter number.

Also, if Deeds or Moran raised one fourth of that, we'd probably have heard of it already this week, but I won't say that for sure.

Webb won despite being outspent 4-1 in his own primary,

Yes, but no one cared about that primary. As far as the voters knew, they were electing a sacrificial lamb.

Deeds can't hold fundraisers during the GA session, so his numbers are probably going to suck.

Yeah, but a legitimate excuse doesn't change the facts

One of the facts, by the way, is that Moran will be unemployed or governor next December

Of course CNN will be supporting the Moderate Hero in the race.

As EH said, Moran is basically our only hope here.
