I’m going to have to put Old School Republican on ignore for the next 48-72 hours, aren’t I?  Or just extend it indefinitely...

You will have to put me there, too.   Do you think you might wait till the exit poll is announced  and confirmed.  President Hillary would expect that.qq q

You do realize You Gov still projects a Tory majority with 339:seats?

I'll turn on BBC for the exit poll. If it says Tory majority, I'm going to bed. If it says no overall majority, I'll go down the corner shop to get some cheap cans of cider and settle in for a long one.

I am looking forward to an orderly election today, which will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath.

End communication.

My preferred outcome is a hung parliament with the Lib Dems holding the balance of power. But if it has to be a Tory majority, at least Corbyn should get rekt.

Based on some of the twitter posts Im seeing(anecdotal and could be completely incorrect, I know) it seems that turnout overall is higher than anticipated.

Huh. Thought 'folks' for 'people' was an American archaicism, like 'fall' for 'autumn'.

Anyway, rooting for the worst Labour performance possible. None of the other choices seem particularly good, but Labour is the worst by far, and any seat they lose or suffer an adverse swing in will be an occasion for satisfaction.

British people using the term ‘folks’ is part of the Great British tradition of adopting every bad American innovation and making it twee and even more sh1t.

Yes, this option exists now, courtesy to Virginia's dark magic.

My mind is mostly elsewhere (for reasons that I won't disclose on a public forum, though which some here do know), but I've voted. I knew what I intended to do when I walked into the polling station, but nevertheless it was not the easiest of decisions, even though I live in a constituency that this time will not be remotely competitive, but it is done.

Regarding turnout numbers, queues and so on, note that this is a December election and most elections are in May and when they are not they are generally in June. There are substantially less hours of daylight, the weather is worse (absolutely foul today), and so there are more incentives to just get the act of voting out of the way as soon as possible.

Which does not mean that turnout cannot be up on last time, either nationally or in any given locality, but be careful.

Watching UK elections is like watching a competition show. This country basically invented the modern way we do politics in the West, so every one of their elections is historic. (even if they're embarrassing themselves with brexit and boris nowadays)

Given the current state of politics, this does not reflect well on the UK. Wink
