Thank God Young won. Stutzman almost certainly would have lost to that moron Baron Hill.

Absolutely not. Stutzman would've destroyed Baron Hill. This seat is Safe GOP regardless.
No, he would have Akined, and lost the seat just like him.

No he would've Reaganed and landslid Hill. Indiana wants Tea Party Conservatives

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Indiana,_2012

Mourdock hung himself on an abortion gaff. Something Stutzman wouldn't have done.
Stutzman is still more extreme.  I really want Republicans to move closer to the center and tone down the rhetoric.  It will really pay off.

By the way, JCL, I have a question. If Indiana wants Tea Party conservatives, then how did Trump and Young win the primaries?

Yeah, tell us.  They don't want Tea Party Conservatives, they tried with Mourdock, and now they're saying "Never again!"

NE-2 Republican, Libertarian
WV-2 Democratic, Republican
Bacon won the Republican primary in NE-02, and Mooney won in WV-02. The Democratic primary for WV-02 is still very close between Cory Simpson and Mark Hunt. The seat should be Safe R, though.

IN-3 Republican:

State Sen. Jim Banks 34%
Businessman Kip Tom 31%
State Sen. Liz Brown 25%
former Wisconsin State Sen. Pam Galloway 7%
2 other candidates 3%

In the Democratic primary for this race, the Democrats' preferred candidate Todd Nightenhelser lost to perennial candidate Tommy Schrader. Schrader is an unemployed Fort Wayne resident that did not campaign and has run at least eight times for public office. Schrader had 38% to Nightenhelser's 32% with John Forrest Roberson taking 31%.

Turns out Schrader is also a Trump supporter.

What of the Democratic Party in IN-3 exists will not support him.

RIP Chip Maxwell - Don Bacon smashed him in NE-2 by a two to one margin. Bacon strikes me as the more electable candidate, and if this were a normal year I think Ashford loses easily.

Ashford has been doing everything right, including stepping up his fundraising game and not giving Omaha businesses a real reason to be against him. With Trump and presidential turnout, I can still see him holding on. No better than Toss-Up though.

Key words: if this were a normal year. As much as I'd love to see Bacon win, I think Ashford will win this time. If he loses, hopefully Backn runs again in 2018, he'll be the favorite then. (Midterm, no Trump, no Lee Terry controversies, etc.)

There was a GOP primary debate in NC-02 last night.

Renee Ellmers defended Obama's immigration executive order, attacked the Club for Growth, ACU, and Heritage Foundation, and defended her support of the 2013 Senate immigration bill. I admire her sticking to her guns, but she's done.

Greg Brannon, on another note, called for disbanding the US Military because he believes that state militias should fight ISIS.

If she goes down, Ryan loses another vote next Congress.

Not CURRENT state militias obviously. Brannon wants each state to have it's own de facto army, with the USA's nuclear stockpile distributed among them. So it's even more crazy than you think.

He also is firmly against the idea of compulsory education, or public schools in general; believes the US in it's current form is a Marxist dystopia, that Upton Sinclair's The Jungle was pure propaganda to convince Americans into government regulation, and that the states should have the power to nullify laws and ignore the Supreme Court.

When he ran for Senate last cycle, he was endorsed by Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Thomas Massie, FreedomWorks, and Ann Coulter.

Why is Copeland doing relatively well so far? If she's outperforming expectations (especially in the heavily Black Atlanta area), this might go to a runoff.

Copeland is a black last name and it doesn't hurt that she's second alphabetically.
