269-269 tie between Kentucky Governor TNF and Senator Nix of New York. House Republicans, terrified of Gov. TNF's platform (which includes such niceties like paid sick leave, paid vacations, paid holidays, and repealing Taft-Hartley) ultimately side with the more fiscally moderate Senator Nix, giving him the White House.

In an alternate universe, where the Democratic Party doesn't exist and the Libertarian Party is main opposition to the Republican Party, Governor Goldwater of Washington and Governor Supersonic of North Carolina race against each other for the Presidency. Because of the two candidates similar postilions on economics and foreign policy, the campaigns were mostly focused on social issues, especially marijuana laws and gun control.

Governor Supersonic (R-NC) - 297 EVs
Governor Goldwater (L-WA) - 241 EVs

In the end, Supersonic's anti-marijuana and pro-gun control views were proven to be more in line with the general public than Goldwater's pro-marijuana and anti-gun control views.

Goldwater wins 273-265 with the popular vote near tied. Between Goldwater's home region advantage and me being pro-life, I'm not exactly sure how poorly I'd fare along the west coast.

I almost flipped MS for me, but ironically, that was Barry Goldwater' best state XD

Jerry 237
Decreased Democratic Turnout in the Midwest makes this a close, but easy win for Miles by capitalizing the south.

The Democratic Party has fallen apart, so the Republicans run two candidates for the presidency. Jerryarkansas and HagridOfTheDeep, a Canadian ex-pat from Montana, face off in a heated contest. These candidates present an interesting dichotomy: Jerry is a moderate who hails from the relatively conservative South, whereas Hagrid has Northern appeal but is a traditional conservative. Ultimately, the campaign makes for an interesting election map.

Senator HagridOfTheDeep (R-MT)—228 Electoral Votes
Governor jerryarkansas (R-AR)—310 Electoral Votes

In the closest election in recorded history, populist Kentucky Governor TNF faces off against libertarian Governor Goldwater of Washington. In a 270-268 squeaker, Goldwater manages a victory, with the race coming down to the crucial second Congressional district of Maine, which for the first time votes for a Republican nominee for President.

Gov. TNF (D-KY) / Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI): 48% (268)
Gov. Goldwater (R-WA) / Gov. Rick Perry (D-TX): 48% (270)

Governor Clinton1996 (D-GA)
Governor TNF (D-KY)
The Democratic Primary between Kentucky Governor TNF and Georgia Governor Clinton1996 is a nail-bitter from the beginning til the end. Liberals and college students come out in support of TNF because of his populist stances and helps him win Iowa, along with much of the Northeast, Great Plains and Midwest. Clinton's support comes from moderates and minorities, helping him win New Hanpshire and the Pacific West and South. In the end, the DNC looked to be deadlocked, but for the good of the party Clinton1996 endorsed TNF for the nomination.

I apologize... I'd been working on this one between myself and Snowstalker for a while, but it looks like SJoyce got there first. Y'all can skip me if you want. Tongue

By October, it looked as if Senator HagridOfTheDeep (R-SC) was going to run away with the election against his colleague in the senate, Senator Snowstalker (D-PA). Throughout the campaign, Snowstalker was accused of holding views too far out of the mainstream for most Americans. Although polling in October had Senator Snowstalker doing quite well in states with a high Hispanic population, he was losing in key places like Minnesota, Wisoncsin, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Maine. Hagrid's brand of conservative was thought to have much appeal with moderate whites in the Rust Belt and the Northeast. Two weeks before the election, most pundits were betting that the map would look something like this:

Unfortunately for Senator Hagrid, three days before the election, a credible source leaked to the press that Hagrid had been having an affair with a prostitute for the last year. The story panned out. Hagrid's poll numbers immediately dropped. In a testament to the polarized nature of the country, however, Hagrid was not actually out of contention. Snowstalker's positions were difficult for many on the right to stomach, and Hagrid believed that he could still win if he could get his base to turn out on election day. He was wrong.

Senator HagridOfTheDeep (R-SC)—243 Electoral Votes
Senator Snowstalker (D-PA)—295 Electoral Votes

Governor Goldwater (R-WA)
Senator Hagrid (R-SC)

Washington Governor Goldwater wins the Republican nomination in a close race against South Carolina Senator Hagrid. After winning the nomination, he decides to chose Hagrid as his running mate and faces off against a Democratic ticket of Florida Governor SJoyce and Pennsylvania Senator Snowstalker in the general election.

Governor SJoyce (D-FL) / Senator Snowstalker (D-PA) - 279 EVs
Governor Goldwater (R-WA) / Senator Hagrid (R-SC) - 259 EVs

Sen. HagridoftheDeep (R-SC)
Gov. Oldiesfreak (R-MI)

One of the most exciting races for the Republican nomination starts out as a close two-way race between Governor Oldiesfreak of Michigan and Senator Hagrid of South Carolina.  After Oldiesfreak wins both Iowa and New Hampshire, it seems apparent that he has won the nomination, but Hagrid vows to take the race to Southern contests where he is strongest.  Shortly before the South Carolina primary, various credible sources leak to the press and the media some past comments by Oldiesfreak that were demeaning to the South.  Hagrid, who was leading comfortably in South Carolina prior to the reports, suddenly skyrockets in state polls and wins the state by a landslide.  Oldiesfreak's problems compound when various Catholic priests and bishops begin questioning whether his status as an Adventist would lead him to enact anti-Catholic policies.  Italian and Irish Catholic enclaves in the Northeast and Chicago quickly desert him.  Oldiesfreak still wins those contests due to his strength with moderates, but his margins are greatly reduced from his showing in the polls prior to the controversy.  Despite wins in New York and California, Oldiesfreak becomes too battered and damaged to recover, and Hagrid easily wins the nomination.

Rep. Snowstalker (C-PA)/Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (C-WV): 280 EVs
Sen. SJoyce (R-FL)/Gov. Brian Sandoval (R-NV): 258 EVs

Rep. Snowstalker and his running mate Gov. Tomblin manage to build an Appalachian-Rust Belt alliance for the Cogendist Party. He promptly decrees the American Cogendist Union and dismisses the Congress.
Don't you mean to put a D by Tomblin's name?

Governor Scott - 275
HPJ - 263

I appeal to Midwesterners, but lose the coastal states like FL and VA thanks to Governor Scott being able to rally his progressive base.  My moderate views help me gain ground, particularly in the Midwest against liberal Scott, but I can't overcome the partisan momentum of the crucial swing states of Florida and Virginia.
Note:  I just made myself the Republican for this matchup, but an R or I could put me as D or R since I could conceivably be either.

Goldwater (Freedom-WA): 277. 49.9%
Supersonic (Conservative-NC): 261. 48.4%

In an alternate reality where the Democratic Party no longer exists. The nation is polarised between the socially liberal, libertarian-esque Freedom Party and the more statist, socially conservative Conservative Party. Goldwater dominates the West and New England, while Supersonic does well in the South and Midwest. There are relatively few swing states in this scenario. Minnesota and Florida decide the election.
