Here is a useful page keeping track of all the Dem. visits to Iowa:

https://iowastartingline.com/2020-watch/

I guess I had missed O'Malley's visit to Iowa last month.  Also missed a couple of those Swalwell visits.

is their anything significant about Swalwell other than his early state visits?

Swalwell was actually born in Iowa so maybe he's visiting family and doing events while there as well.

Steyer would be a terrible candidate, I hope he doesn't run.
also, I think Biden's probably running in spite of his age.

Landrieu was on Real Time last night, continuing his book tour:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93_wivA_4H4

At the very beginning of that video, Maher asks him if he's running for president, and he says "I am not" (present tense).

That's a pretty honest answer and confirms my thoughts that he really doesn't have his mind made up one way or the other.

I actually think this may play much better than the now-standard non-denials.

I think Biden actually doesn’t know what he’s going to do, unlike those who give non-denial denials, who are obviously running for President.

Warren doesn't tend to do very many overseas trips, but she's headed to Asia this week, and will meet with officials in China, Japan, and South Korea:

https://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/warren-to-travel-to-asia

As noted in that story, she outlined her goals for the trip in an op/ed for the Boston Globe.

Of course, because paying dues and running for the IN-2 this cycle or IN Gov in 2020 was simply unconscionable.

I find it remarkable that the 2020 field is going to see at least a handful of Dems running simply to boost their statewide prospects, rather than the old style of doing it to prepare you for the next cycle.

I suppose this could all be a big misdirect to announce for Gov in 2020. In which case I withdraw my criticism.

Barring a major scandal, whoever goes up against Holcolmb is a sacrificial lamb. He has strong approval ratings and has avoided contentious issues. I wouldn't want Buttigeg to waste his career by getting blown out by Holcolmb

Todd Young would be a better target in 2022, or IN-02 this cycle would certainly be reasonable.

Pete Buttigieg should seek a cabinet post in the next D administration then run statewide when polarization dies down.

1) I suspect Holcomb might be weaker than expected considering that his reputation and approvals are built off of... what? The gas tax? Mostly just not being controversial and keeping IN out of the headlines. But then again that might just make him stronger and harder to run against.

so 2) yes those are better. But he wouldn't announce for either of those in Spring of 2019.

What is with people afraid losing will take their record same with Castro? Obama, Bush,Clinton, Reagan all lost before eventually winning.
