Also this was the third best part of the match:

Lief, all you need now is to enlist Joe Biden as a player. That way every single match will result in victories for 'Murica Wink

Diving is worse than the headbutting in my eyes, which is why Italy in particular are such a noxious team.

Lies and slanders, as usual. You guys are just jealous of our greatness.

I had a hunch going in that Algeria would make the Round of 16.

The people of Egypt will not be pleased with the current score...

Face it guys, Italy is the only team that can beat Germany. Wink
No.

But Italy is the only team that Germany can not, under any circumstances, beat in a competitive match. Smiley

I think the better argument is that we were lucky to score two goals, considering the US seemed to never have possession.
They did have more possession than Iran (38% vs 31%). But while shots were 10-9 in Nigeria vs Iran, they were 21-8 for Ghana. OTOH, Nigeria actually won challenges more clearly than Ghana did, where that (usually quite predictive) stat was still very much on drawish territory.

But yeah, this was not actually a game the US had any business winning. (Obvious caveat regarding above statistics is obvious: Ghana are a stronger team than Nigeria, and the US are a stronger team than Iran.)

Pretty entertaining match despite the 0-0.

Brazil losing would have been glorious (and Mexico had a lot of chances to win). Pity Tongue

How many in England will be bitterly watching Capello tonight? I assume Al will look on in amazement, as usual.

Not sure if I should bet some money on the Chile-Spain game, but considering my mediocre prediction score so far, better not ... Tongue

And I think Spain is out for revenge today, which means Chile will likely get butchered.

Seeing as both Lief and a person have Chile winning 2-1, I think that bet would be a fairly safe use of your €100.

Fun fact: In 3 head to head matches, Australia and the Netherlands have drawn twice, and Australia has won once.

We've also never lost to Spain.
