Joni Ernst is an embarrassment and needs to be voted out. The Trumpist and Tea Party Republican Party needs to suffer at the ballot box, crush and burn the ground be rebuild in a fashion of the Canadian Conservative Party. But I'm not optimistic this will happen in the near future, even if Trump is gone next year.

America is not Canada, sadly.

And you should thank god for it, because if America was like Canada the Berlin would be still here and your country would be occupied by Russians

If Biden wins the presidency, Joni Ernst may not even be in the senate to impeach him.

Euh no, seriously no

She is outperforming Trump by 3 to 4 points, thus in order to see Ernst losing you probably needs Trump to lose the PV by +12 points, that’s not going to happen

The outcome in the Senate may be is preordained, but that shouldn't stop House Democrats from subpoenaing John Bolton and other Trump administration figures.  I don't want Bolton to come out with the information in his upcoming book that should have been heard first in a House Intelligence Committee hearing.

I would love for Iowa to castrate Ernst's political future, but it won't happen. Of course, if the Republicans want to try and impeach Biden, should he become President, it will probably be an even bigger failure than this impeachment of Trump. The rules aren't going to change. McConnell and the Senate GOP have f***ed with a lot of our institutional traditions but even he can't overcome this. They'll still need 67 votes, which will remain a near-impossible goal. Also any evidence of wrongdoing is tenuous and trite. Only the most zombified of the right wing base will buy it. I'm always wary of giving the American public, and even our own political system, that much credit but I really almost welcome the GOP to try this if Biden becomes the 46th President. At that point we'll get the backfire and vindication result for the GOP that they are hoping for an acquittal of Trump will achieve for them right now.

Agreed, though there will probably a desire by many in the party to want to move on Ukraine-Contra, much like with the Mueller probe.

Imagine if the top four candidates all crashed out of the primaries in a crazy upset and Amy Klobuchar won the nomination.

Yes. Democrats should do it. Will they? I think likely not.

Closing Arguments will begin in approximately 35 minutes. The House Managers and the President's Counsel will each have two hours to close.

It worked out perfectly fine after the Mueller report didn't produce a smoking gun. He bribed a foreign govt the day after to get dirt on an opponent. Mr. Trump will be emboldened after the acquittal, that's for sure. If he feels his actions have no consequences, he'll do it over and over again.

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if he again does something impeachable right away in the following weeks and months as we get closer to the election and he's feeling the heat coming from polls that show him tanking.

This is why Biden's vision of American government is so stupid. Many of these folks are his former colleagues. Many of whom like him and his family personally and know he's a good guy. Yet they still would sell him out for an obvious two-bit conman that they know is dirty. A conman named Trump that would throw any single one of these Republicans under the bus to save his own skin.

Bipartisanship is dead. It's time to remove every Republican from office that we can and move as far away from their bad policy, poor judicial appointments, and corrupted morals as possible.

In that case, then Schiff is putting on a pretty masterful show right now.  Regardless of his points, he's showcasing an attorney at its finest.

This is why I have predicted that Donald Trump will be impeached again if reelected. He could go down in history as only president to face two impeachments.

Interesting little moment there as the Senate was adjourning: Chuck Grassley (R-IA) tried to shake Chief Justice Roberts' hand.  The Chief Justice refused.

Schiff presented a masterful closing argument, it's too bad it was wasted on this incompetent Senate majority.

The Chief Justice hasn't forgotten that Grassley voted to impeach Bill Clinton over a blowjob, and doesn't get how Grassley doesn't view this, a much worse act, as impeachable also.

I think it might be that the Chief Justice doesn't want to make it seem as though he's giving a "mission accomplished" gesture.

The fact of the matter Dems have the 278 blue wall and their 3 Senate seats: AZ, CO, KS and NC. The result is a Dem trifecta due to the Trump corruption. Trump is guaranteed to be prosecuted by a D attorney general, minimum he will pay back restitution for being audited by the IRS; consequently,  Trump is finished

Based upon the GOP senators that have expressed disapproval of Trump's actions, Joe Manchin (D-WV) suggests CENSURING the President.  He believes such a decision would receive bipartisan support.
