Looks like we’re hurtling towards an ending that may play out in an interesting fashion.

Mueller isn’t even close to the end of the investigations into Trump nor is this the most dangerous, legally speaking.

They're gonna try and cover this up

I don't see how. Any report exonerating Trump is obviously worthless. After all, he's spent the last two years telling us it's a fake witch hunt. The House should redo the whole thing in an impartial fashion.

If we don't get a public report and become aware that we most likely may never get one, the House must either acquiesce to the cover up or conduct their own investigation. The absolute worse case for Democrats if they go forward with their own investigation is that this becomes their next Benghazi level conspiracy theory. The best case for Democrats if they let it go is that it becomes the next birth certificate level conspiracy theory.  These are the absolute worst case scenario because dozens of people are either in jail or going to jail over this. There's a there there and there is obviously fire. Anything short of something at least recommending the start of impeachment proceedings will make the entire Mueller thing look like a massive cover up.

Maybe our friends on the far-left are right that  we are spending too much time on the issues of corruption and enemy intelligence infiltration in the Federal government. But they are important issues.

It's the most publicly prominent, which plays a very major role.

Here’s a good piece by Neal Katyal, who helped write the current laws guiding special counsels

He doesn’t seem worried, which is a good sign in my mind.

Adding on, Schiff or another committee chair could subpoena the report given to Barr by Mueller.

Judge Jackson put Stone under a strict new gag order. Surprised she didn’t make him spend a couple of nights in the pokey

It's easy enough to deal with a "cover-up" by having Judiciary invite Mueller to testify publicly and subpoenaing the original report that Barr's summary is going to be based on.

Doesn't New York still have that presidential pardon / double jeopardy law?

Hopefully they (or DC/Virginia/Maryland) can do the same for the other Trump criminals in case of pardon, maybe even against the President himself.

I imagine these are different crimes than what Mueller charged him for.

Why not charge it anyway? This seems to taint the case as a politically motivated action. Manafort is easily and technically guilty because he made a bunch of income and never payed taxes on it. He should be tried in NY state for the benefit of all other NY taxpayers.

One question I could find nothing on: Why was Stormy Daniels paid? Did she threaten Trump to expose the affair right before the election? Usually you don't pay someone off "in advance" for an affair a decade earlier without being asked.

When Trump submitted his written answers to Mueller in November, he answered no to if he knew in advance about the Trump Tower meeting. He also answered no to if he knew in advance about Roger Stone colluding with Wikileaks. Trump is definately going down for perjury for those lies.

She says that she was getting so many questions that she wanted an out of talking about it so she took the payment and NDA. When her daughter was a baby she was getting her out the car and some guy came up to her in the parking garage , told her to not talk about Trump, and said something like "That's a pretty little girl, it'd be a shame if something happened to her mom" so it's understandable why she took it. She doesn’t know who exactly sent the guy but she thinks it was Cohen.

This seems potentially significant:

Isn’t there a sealed indictment against Assange?

Edit: That would be a yes
