This convicted fellow and perennial loser is interesting and wants to see what questions are thrown at him.
Notice I said only interesting and important people would be interviewed.  An illegal governor does not count

Illegal in what respect?

The 2nd interview in the series centered with Sen. Afleitch, an often target of the paper who has recently been warmed up to by the publisher.  The next interview will be with Sen. Hashemite, questions will be submitted later today or tomorrow

Q: Senator tell the voters why you should be elected next time around, but not as opposed to the senators from the other party, but rather than the two candidates from your own.

Probably the toughest question I've been asked! But it's not unreasonable. I would say I offer something different to Franzl and Barnes as I'm accepting my new role of being, it seems, the 'grumpy old fart' of the Senate. I like amending bills more than writing them and contesting the principles behind them. Now that the game has an active GM I see no reason why the Senate can ignore what he reports, so I won't support uncosted bills. That is what I feel seperates me from the other two DA candidates.

Q: You have advocated, to my pleasure, that the country switch to an entire regionally elected senate, why do you believe this?

I think that my plan offers a compromise; not just when it comes to Senate elections but between both sides of the federal/regional debate. I don't like the current Class A/B split along with many federalists. However I oppose 10 nationally elected seats as proposed; you loose a geographic link which has in the past been a great part of the game and can still be so. Dave Hawk and Jedi in days gone by used to take note of what their constituents (for Dave his District, for Jedi his Region) wished for and would sponsor bills that would provide something for the areas they represented. I also oppose the Council of Governors and have done so since the idea was raised at the start of this year. Regions can still be represented at the federal level acting as 'constituencies.'  Regions already exist as pre-made, known and accepted subdivisions of Atlasia so it makes sense to retain them. However, I am also aware that a region of 20 residents has the same weight as a region of 50 residents and this is of concern to many people. My plan would reflect that and apportion seats to regions in accordance with the size of their electorate. Every region would return at least 1 Senator, as they do at present but larger regions would return additional Senators.

Q: Your party has look stressed not requiring voting the party line, but why exactly did you and several others vote for Tmth over Benconstine?  Did his admitted failure as governor have anything to do with it?

I can't speak for others only for myself. Benconstine's record as Governor didn't cross my mind . What I was faced with was a choice between him and Senator Tmth who had been elevated to the Senate as a replacement, who wasn't sure of himself to begin with but who became more confident and a good free minded Senator. I wanted him to continue in the Senate so I voted for him.

Q: In the last election cycle, PurpleState stated the DA needed to run its own ticket to show independence, however, it got crushed and most likely would again.  How does your party feel that a party so small compared to the others can win the presidency without a unity ticket such as the one in June?

I would certainly encourage the DA to run a ticket again regardless of the outcome. It's good for Atlasia that we have smaller parties. It's good that smaller parties put up candidates for all offices especially the Presidency which while it may be a two horse race when the votes are counted, certainly benefits from having other horses racing! I think we can win the Presidency because we have a good pool of members who have the potential to be President and I'm looking forward to February. I also hope that other smaller parties put up candidates too. I see no reason for Presidential races to be two man affairs when other national and regional races are not.

Q: What is your opinion of the recent cases brought by AG Bgwah regarding posting PMs and impersonation?

I think that the AG is doing his job in bringing these forward, as are the Justices in hearing them, or giving reasons why they cannot be heard. The outcome of these cases shows that there may be an issue with the law which I am pleased to say is being addressed by the Senate. I have proposed an  amendment to this as there is a fine line over what a moderator can and cannot divulge. Impersonation, sock accounts and all other matters which ruin the game also have the potential to affect the Forum as a whole and we have to recognise this. If mods do their job, and forumers help us do the job I see no reason that our conclusions can be relied upon in any Fantasy Election board prosecution.

Q: What do you regard as your greatest achievement in the senate?

Since re-elected I am most proud of my Public Housing Act because the bill was costed. I made the decision to ensure that the cost of this vital investment was not simply written off as part of our national debt. So I raised taxes. Given that before I was accused of proposing needless tax cuts to alleviate poverty, through this bill I demonstrated that I can also make the leap the other way.

Q: Finally, senator, you stated that the machines politics brought on by people such as myself were runing the game and that "DWTL is not we need".  Do you stand by these statements or do you think the country is now moving in the right direction?

I can accept that we are now in somewhat 'scarier' and certainly more manipulative territory, than we were at the start of the year. I don't like machine politics which I don't feel is anything new or unexpected from me in my time here. It's machine politics and the mechanisation of the game which has in part led to recent issues over voter impersonation and recruitment issues. As I said before Hamilton is not unique; he was not the first and his actions in part stemmed from the overall climate of the game which teeters between a desire to win and a desire for vengeance. Some get embroiled in this, others publicly remove themselves from it. But, I will concede that party machines have invigorated participation and given the game a whole new depth. It is here to stay; it us up for everyone to make the most of it and for legislators to ensure that issues that arise from increased competition are regulated and there is safe and enjoyable competitive gameplay.

DWTL, when are you going to realize that the DA did not run its own ticket to "win." Long-term strategies that build the party and solidify the message are what form a sustainable organization. This vision is something the Atlasian right lacks, which is why we see it falter time after time.

After much hype and speculation, President Lief has chosen Marokai Blue to be the new associate justice on the Supreme Court.  Despite ideological differences, the NWA supports the confirmation of Marokai.  While the paper made it known it would have preferred AG Bgwah, the pick is satisfying.

Speculation now shifts to who will run for PPT of the next senate.  Many speculate that senator-in-waiting DWTL may be eyeing the job, although he has already stated he leans against seeking it.  The paper would personally love to see the job go to NCYankee or Afleitch if they feel they have the time to commit.  The reason the paper does not support Tmth is that he has stated his inability to run for re-election based on availability and does not think adding this responsiblity would be good for him.

Sure, since it moves the Senate's average PM decisely to the right...
