Very bad night fir Romney, though he wins Utah and CO.

MO and CA still out.

It is interesting that, thus far, Romney has so far won mostly those states where he has a personal connection or where there is a significant Mormon presence, i.e. Wyoming, Michigan, Nevada, Massachusetts, Utah...

He doesn't seem to be expanding his support beyond those states he was and is expected to win.

What's happening here is Huckabee overperforming significantly. To the extent that anyone is underperforming, it's Romney.

Yes, but he was touted by all the right wing leaders supposedly.

Yes, and likely for Huckabee.

The South bias against Mormons is comparable to the MA/NJ bias against Obama.  You won't see it in the exit polling, but it's there.

If 50% of the vote in Alabama is reported, and McCain still maintains a lead of any sort, that would be a milestone...

The South has a bias against aristocracies. Ours died out in the Civil War.

George Bush laughs at that.

McCain up 38-31 in MT with 20% reporting.

Bad news for Romney - Granite County went for McCain 47-29.  That is a very conservative county.

With 55% of the vote reported, Huckabee has expanded his lead in Georgia to four points:

Huckabee: 36%
McCain: 32%
Romney: 28%
Paul: 3%

M is originally from Texas so I'm guessing that.

McCain is leading all closed polls states that have not been declared except for MN, MO, and GA.  MN tied between Huckabee and Romney.

Terrible night for Romney.

Alabama is now too close to call, with 34% of the vote reported.  McCain and Huckabee are now tied with 39% each.

McCain/Huckabee '08 LOL!

John McCain thanks the independent voters for their help, and promptly gives them a nice big middle finger...

I'm prepared to say Huckabee would be a dangerous as a VP nominee...but I don't know dangerous who for....if his charisma would help mccain/hurt dems, or if his fundamentalism would sink mccain faster than an iceberg

If that is the GOP ticket I will be looking at this fall, I may seriously reconsider voting Democratic.  I will not tolerate having Huckabee so dangerously close to the reins of power.

What are you looking at?  Romney had a slim two point lead over Huckabee last time I looked.  Tongue

You guys need to look at the exit polls. Huck will carry Alabama, and Tennessee probably, and McCain Missouri and Arizona. The only skin tight race is Oklahoma. McCain is running the table delegate wise. It's over. Tennessee is strickly proportional so who cares who wins?  McCain looks like he might carry one CD in Alabama, and get a little over a third of the delegates.

The delegate him favors McCain big time. The rules are a dream for him. Heck he will get about 40% of the delegates in Mass which is strictly proportional.
