Two specials tonight!

OK-51 (8 ET): https://www.ok.gov/elections/support/ok_results_seb.html
Massachusetts State Senate Third Essex District (8 ET): Good luck searching Smiley

IIRC, the Democrat is unopposed in the MA race, so who cares.

Why bother even holding an election if there's only one name on the ballot?

Unless a provision specifically sanctioning the canceling of the election is in state law (there is a suitable provision in OK, for instance), the election must be held, even if the ballot is just:

[ ] D candidate
[ ] Write-In: ______

Edit: And yes, you are correct, the state does list the democrat as the only candidate. So just watch OK-51 tonight.

Looking like a much smaller swing now compared to what OK has been showing in other specials. (Though still a sizeable swing)

22/23 Precincts:

BRAD BOLES (REP)   1,482   72.93%
CHARLES L. MURDOCK (DEM)   550   27.07%

We go to TN Senate District 14 next Tuesday. Gayle Jordan (D) is running a strong campaign against Shane Reeves (R). She has a strong supporter base on her facebook: https://twitter.com/gelliottmorris/status/971433174378205185

Results for TN tonight (8 ET): https://elections.tn.gov/county-results.php?OfficeByCounty=Tennessee%20Senate%20District%2014

There's also a runoff in MS between two republicans, but don't waste your time with that.

What's the conventional wisdom on the TN race?
I mean, the democrat is an atheist running in a TN district even redder than TN as a whole.

Thanks, that answered the question of whether I should pay any attention to it. Wink

My money would certainly be on Reeves, but the GOP primary was very intense, and some Carr supporters do not want to support Reeves.  Jordan is probably still too extreme to flip a district like TN-14 though.
