You're reading it wrong.  There is no defeatist attitude.  I do want this job, because I want to get to Kenya in 2015.  A job now is pretty much the best way that will happen.  In terms of current finances, though, this job is not critical.  As in, I won't be on the streets or go hungry if I don't get the job.  I really want this job and I am very confident that I will get it.  The mustache has nothing to do with it.

You need a sense of urgency if you want to get a job. Otherwise you will neglect things you need to do because you know you have your parents to fall back on.

They need to give you a firm order to find work or leave, but they will never do that, which is too bad.

My sense of urgency is that I want to get out of this house as soon as possible.  I know I have them to fall back on for right now, but what if something happened to them?  I would be forced to get a job immediately or risk being on the streets.  I am well aware of that.  That's why I want this job.  I have faith that nothing will happen to them, but since nobody knows when anybody's time is up, I have to be ready just in case their time comes sooner than expected.  Not to mention, I am only 9 months from Age 32.  I need to start making a name for myself.  The goal of getting to Kenya by the Fall of 2015 is the second priority on the list.  Momma didn't raise no dummy.

The mustache is not completely gone, but it is trimmed back quite a ways.  I couldn't bring myself to eliminate it completely.  Think of it as a better groomed mustache.  Before I shaved a bit ago, I was starting to eat my mustache.  It had to be trimmed back.

Anyway, I am dressed and ready to go for my interview.  I'm going to leave here at 1420 so I can make sure I'm there by 1445.  I will post once I'm out of the interview.  After the interview, if I have time, I need to run into Best Buy and get some printer ink.  Then, depending on the time, it will be off to VBS dinner at 1645.

I certainly hope not!  Why do you fellows want him to enter the world of toils?  He's sitting pretty at the moment, and this type of job does more harm than good to the toiler anyway.

Well in all honestly, he's not sitting as pretty as you were, old friend.  You daddy worked but he had plenty of money (capitalism, who knew, eh?).....Bushie's dad toils a horrendous number of hours to barely eek out a living for the 3 of them.  So we want him to help his Dad, whereas your Dad was fine financially.

Interview was short and sweet. I feel pretty good about it.  They will call me in the next couple of days if I have a second and deciding interview.  It is in God's hands now.

It's been a while since I had a job interview for a dinky retail job, but "We'll call you in a few days" doesn't sound promising. It's also disappointing that the focus is still on this Kenya pipedream. He may not be at risk of starvation tomorrow, but that's the way he's headed. And no desire to help his parents after all they've done for him, at least while he's living in the trailer? He's owes them big.

I can't speak to the vibe of this particular interview, but I can tell you that with each passing day, this Kenya calling is far more than a pipedream.  I fully intend to move to Africa in a little over 2 years.  In fact, I'm already counting down the days.  667 days until I spend the summer there (May 15, 2015) - 806 days until I would like to move there (October 1, 2015).

Yeah he went into the interview without a sense of urgency. They normally hire you on the spot for retail jobs like that, so he didn't get the job. I expect that's the end of the job hunt. He doesn't want to work. He knows his parents will finance his fantasies. They'd probably pay for him to go to African again.

JCP may have a different hiring process.  I think I'll get it, but I'm not going to cry in my room if I don't get it.  Tomorrow, more applications go in, namely Subway and Walmart.  I've also got Kohl's, Marshall's and Lowe's on the docket.  I'm not burying JCP yet.

I'm unsure if the pornstache is a plus or minus. Also, from a friendly stranger, you would hate Kenya. I've been to underdeveloped areas, and, let me just say this, the Bataan like conditions very quickly lose their novelty.

I think it's pretty clear he didn't get the JC Penney job. Not so terrible. Plenty of fish in the sea. I would recommend going somewhere less fashion oriented. No offense, but that doesn't seem to be a strong point for you. I said this a long time ago, but I still think a grocery job would be a good fit for you.
