Michael Bloomberg seems like he's determined to test whether or not it's possible to just buy a nomination, if not the Presidency.

Bloomberg's version of Biden's 2007 "articulate and bright and clean":

Quote
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg apologized Friday after calling fellow 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) “well spoken," a phrase which critics have said has racist undertones.

While discussing his 2020 competitors with CBS’s Gayle King in an interview that aired Friday morning, Bloomberg said, “Cory Booker endorsed me a number of times, and I endorsed Cory Booker a number of times. He’s very well spoken, he’s got some good ideas.”

Obama said it was no big deal.   Booker got offended.  That's why Obama was President and Booker won't be.

Biden: “You got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy”
Bloomberg: “We’ve endorsed each other many times; he’s very well spoken; he’s got some good ideas.”

One of these has racial undertones. The other does not.

I think this is the first longer interview Mike Bloomberg gave since he jumped in. My favorite part is when he defends himself from Sanders/Warren criticism he wanted to buy the election, saying that he had been successful in business and donates a ton of money to good causes and isn't beholden to anyone. He also described himself as "social liberal, fiscal moderate" when asked. No doubt he would be a competent president.

The not-beholden-to-anyone argument is something Bloomberg has been using since he was mayor. I think it's a fair point to some extent; he doesn't accept donations (at least, he didn't in his mayoral races, and to the extent he does for President, it would probably be only for the purpose of debate qualification) and doesn't use any outside support money, either, just his own funds. So it's true that what you see is what you get, and he's not going to be working behind the scene for any interests that are funding his campaigns. Of course, if you don't like what you see, that may not be very comforting.

This is in part also due to Pete's fall, but Bloomberg is just 3.5% behind him now, and his RCP average is now higher than Harris had any time after September. Tbh, if we're fairly applying the standards, that means he deserves a megathread, since Harris had one Sad

Nah, we need to change the standards to avoid getting too many pinned threads. Only the "Big 4" should have one.

I have a hard time believing this guy is a comms intern given that his Twitter prior to this event had no mention of Bloomberg and contained a lot of things that no self-respecting comms staff would leave up on Twitter (much less post on Twitter while employed as a comms intern).

The same goes for his buddy, Brad Evans, who also has Bloomberg campaign in his Twitter bio, but nothing about Bloomberg in his Twitter prior to this event.

The two are apparently comedians who have teamed up sketches and pranks in the past

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/mike-bloomberg-viral-dance-video-comedy-buttigieg

I can't make a call one way or another, but it certainly seems like these guys are comedians who got a handful of friends together in a room to make a fake "Moves like BLOOMBERG" video, and now are stirring sh**t up on Twitter, probably as part of some future "Fired by Bloomberg" sketch.

Bloomberg has spent 118 Mio. $ in TV, radio and online ads.

In the past 4 weeks ...

That’s more than all the other 25+ candidates combined since the start of their campaigns + spending on their staff.
