I am not sure that you "need" to tithe on gifts as opposed to income. If it were income, then sure, tithe, because if its income, then somebody has a deduction to take reducing their income, unless it is for non-deductible services (say if Bushie were cleaning house in exchange for his stream of cash from his parents (but Bushie does not do that, maybe because down "there" house cleaning is women's work). The Catholic Church fwiw thinks tithing is based on one's income.

Bushie, do you tithe 10% of the money your parents give you to support your church?

If his dad is already tithing on his own paycheck, then wouldn't that be double taxation?

I'm not at all familiar with how churches do the math. Do they allow for "deductions?" I just always assumed it was a flat 10% of whatever one receives. Bushie has mentioned previously that he and his parents go to different churches.

this would be my thought... and Bushie probably shouldn't be doing it then, because he's not the type of person to say, "My daddy gave me $100; I'll keep $90 and give $10 to the church."  He's the type to say, "My daddy gave me $100; I need to ask him for another $10 to give to the church."

But if I had to guess, he does tithe.  It's likely that his church passes a plate (as many Southern Baptist churches do), and I'm guessing he'd feel embarrassed or ashamed if he wasn't putting something in it while it passed by.  It may not be 10%, but I'm guessing he tosses in a few bucks every week.

I've never seen Taco Bell or a Mexican restaurant do that.  Maybe on a burrito or chalupa, but not a taco.

I just had my dinner - 2 hot dogs.  Note that it is down from 3 hot dogs.  It would've been even better, but we are kind of cramped for time as we have to take JJ in for training.

Altogether for the day, I will end up at just under 1,500 calories if I don't have anything else the rest of the night.

You only had 2 hot dogs... you must still be starving (even I would be)... don't you think you'll still eat more?

I wasn't very hungry tonight.  My nausea is trying to come back on me.  I'm drinking a regular Pepsi right now, but no more food.  That will add 250 calories to my list today, but will still keep me right at 1,700.  I'm going to school no matter what tomorrow, because I want to get rockin' and rollin' on the Engineering Principles Course - the beginning of the meat of CADD.

Lief, the buns were white.

Matt, Excellent job!  I can't wait to hear more about this court case!  Maybe I should watch Court TV (is that even still a channel)?

I don't tithe a full 10% myself, but I do like to put in $2-$3 in the plate every Sunday morning.  Once in a while it is $5, but on average $3.  I should be tithing 10%, because their gifts are my income source, but I'm still working on that.  I feel bad for putting nothing in like I have for most of the past 20 months.  God is still working with me on that, and I must admit, I'm a pretty lousy student on that.  It will come, though.

Were the two hot dogs (+bun and condiments) the only things you had for dinner?  No fruit or vegetables or anything?  (Maybe the ketchup on the hot dog is the closest you come to eating fruit and vegetables?)

Maybe they do things differently in Australia, but here in America no one's ever said you have to eat fruits and vegetables every day.

You do have to eat meat every day though. Lots of it. The cheaper and fattier and more wrapped in white bread, the better.

I lived in the US for longer than you've been alive, and I think both there and here in Oz, I've eaten fruit and/or vegetables almost every day of my life.  Not with every single meal, no.  But to me, two hot dogs doesn't really sound like much of a dinner.  I'd want *something* beyond that, whether or not it's fruit or veg.

There's nothing wrong with eating two grilled hot dogs on a white bun with ketchup when you are starting to feel nauseous. It's called being an America.

I agree with you, but unfortunately Bushie has taken it upon himself to be the arbiter of what is and isn't American. And eating vegetables and fruits every day is unfortunately not. Sad

In Bushie-world, an "American" diet apparently consists of slightly cutting back on how much crap you eat, rather than replacing any of that crap with something healthy.

That *something*you want is fiber. The digestive tract needs a little bit of help with white bread and meat. It needs some bulk for the sake of consistency. With his diet, if the die-uh-beet-us and heart disease don't get him first, it'll be colon cancer.

Hot dogs aren't a good item to decide to eat when you're nauseous.

Bushie, do you tithe 10% of the money your parents give you to support your church?

If his dad is already tithing on his own paycheck, then wouldn't that be double taxation?

I like how Bushie justifies all the explicitly and unarguably un-Christian things he does by saying "God's talking to him about it." I guess when God's choosing not to force his love on me and my fellow heathens, he's sitting with Bushie in his room and giving him advice, 80s sitcom dad-style.

Too early to tell, yet.  Idk if this is definitely the end times or if its still the lead up to it.  If the Middle East and the United States aren't careful, it could turn into World War III.  Again, too early to pass judgment on it being WW3, but definitely something to keep an eye out for.  I do believe World War III is coming before Armageddon.

Interesting take. What do your parents have to say about it?

Bushie instead of tithing, you should set 10% of your income aside for entertainment. Think alcohol, drugs, and porn(since you apparently buy it)/prostitutes.

Bushie should cook his chicken in Bacon Fat:

I hope you're not being sarcastic - in fact bacon fat, lard, etc, is just as healthy as vegetable oils.
