Well, if he has locked it, we will just have to move our discussion to this thread.

All Inks said was by definition he was not these kids father. It didn't seem that bad. Giving them $35 a month does not make him a father, and it's a bit selfish of him to expect for the kids to call him daddy in return, but then again, Bushie is one of the most selfish people I've ever come across.

I don't think that will make any difference. They all seem to have adopted the narrative that he is, indeed, a father to these kids. It seemed like he had accepted he was simply a sponsor before he went back to Kenya, but of course, that all went out the window.

The Update will be back once he comes home. He can't stay away. It may take a few weeks for him to return to "reality" as he defines it, but he won't be gone forever.

Inks, I am not going to delete you off Facebook, but I kindly ask you to keep any logistical questions here.  Besides, the Maisha director on the ground said the children need to call me father.  He wouldn't exaggerate a situation for crowd pleasing.  He says things as they are.  You all need to admit that I know more about the inner workings of Maisha than any of you.  I have been with this organization for almost 2 years on two mission trips.  I don't know everything, but I know a heck of a lot more than anyone here.  Can we all agree to that?

I suppose our confusion stems from the notion that their grandmother raises them and no one else calls their sponsor kids their "children."

Yes, you have been on a mission trip there, that's great, but you have to remember the director is running a business. If you and others like you stop sending money every month, the place shuts down. He is not going to argue with someone he depends on for revenue. The customer is always right, Bushie. If you want them to call you daddy, by golly that man is going to tell you that for fear that you will stop sending in money every month.

I think I speak for all of us when I say we are just fearful that this is going to end badly. You can't adopt these kids and it's cruel you are having them call you their father. What if someone else comes along and wants to adopt them? Then they are confused. It will be at least 5 years before you can even consider adopting them (CAD + US Job + 3 years minimum of marriage), and that's a hell of a long time.

It's incredibly selfish to con these kids into thinking you are their father, and then when they grow up, they will be ripe for an identity crisis. Or worse, if a good family who can actually support them comes along, they will feel like they are being taken from their daddy.

What I want for those kids and JJ is to find a good home with people who can support them. You can't. That's not an insult. I can't either. It's just the truth.
