I was fully expecting for this thread to be someone like CTRattlesnake arguing that solar power will bring down 'murica.

What's the leper colony in Hawaii that's its own county? That would fit most posters here.

As a Brit: I need to clarify for Americans.

F**s in the US:Gay People

F**s in the UK:Cigarettes

We knew that. But consider the user who is doing the poll.

Oh dear, you've revealed my surreptitious plan.

Well, it's been awhile since I last did this:

1. The right to individual autonomy is important, even if it threatens collective security - Agree - critical issue.

2. The government should penalize organizations that practice outsourcing. - Agree.

3. Giving faith-based charities the same government resources as secular organizations is a good idea. - Disagree.

4. We should increase foreign aid to countries struggling with poverty. - Usually agree.

5. We should increase funding for education. - Agree.

6. Heterosexual couples should receive higher marital recognition than same-sex couples. - Disagree - critical issue.

7. Overall, free trade hurts more than it helps. - Neutral.

8. We should reduce the number of government programs substantially. - Usually agree.

9. Abortion should be illegal or very heavily restricted. - Disagree - critical issue.

10. The government should fund museums, theaters, and other cultural institutions that are unable to survive independently. - Agree.

11. The government should subsidize health insurance for those who cannot easily afford it. - Agree.

12. The government should work to reduce children's exposure to offensive radio and television content. - Disagree - critical issue.

13. It is unfair that wealthier people pay higher tax rates. - Disagree - critical issue.

14. The minimum wage should be raised. - Agree.

15. Marijuana should be legalized. - Agree.

16. Society focuses too much on forcing equality at the expense of real merit. - Disagree.

17. Violating individual rights is acceptable when it comes to fighting terrorism. - Disagree - critical issue.

18. Current levels of government regulation on industry are excessive. - Disagree - critical issue.

19. The government should provide basic needs for all people. - Agree.

20. The death penalty should be an option for serious crimes. - Usually agree.

21. We should reduce the difficulty of immigration. - Agree - critical issue.

22. Union workers should be protected against being fired during strikes. - Agree.

23. Prostitution should be legalized. - Agree.

24. Flag burning should be banned. - Disagree.

25. I support affirmative action. - Neutral.

26. The government should impose tariffs to protect industries from foreign competition. - Neutral.

27. Physician-assisted suicide should be legal if the patient is capable of informed, rational consent. - Agree.

Economic score: -5.74
Social score: -7.91

So I've actually drifted about a point to the left on both scales since I first took the test.

I bet Nate will be happy. His life was hell as a kid because of his father, but even with all that propaganda, hatred, and total BS he heard as a kid, he went onto become a LGBT rights advocate. Fred crossed the line though when he picketed the funeral of Matthew Shepard. There's so much hate and homophobia from doing stuff like that and he might as well have just joined the KKK to. I don't wish death on anybody no matter how bad they are (and heck, I would even vote for Brownback over this guy), but before he dies, he should really revaluate his life of just pure hatred and disgust.

For France, you can use Géoclip for that purpose (click on an area while pressing shift to get combined data for several areas) although it's a bit more tedious to do, only goes down to the commune level, and lacks most of DRA's tools.

without context, i'd choose this:

I could see his gay marriage stance making a lot of evangelicals angry though.

Tim Pawlenty and John Thune would probably be the "safest" choices.

Let them get angry. Who else are they going to vote for? Hillary Clinton?

And let Hillac!nt become President?

wow, that's an even better pun than "obummer" or whatever. republicans are just getting wittier and wittier, eh?

Our new Keith Olbermann. Switching from the invigorating world of politics (though Olbermann was technically fired) to focus on batting averages, touchdowns, the draft, endzones and all that other crap that nobody cares about. It's terrible. He would rather jump the bandwagon than write about what actually is important.

I'm just reading through some of these recent political articles of his and not only are there fewer of them, but he just doesn't seem that interested in writing about any of it since he's mainly just elaborating on a bunch of polls and data and not even going in depth. We need more political articles AND more length and structure to them!

Yes. At the very least, it should have about 700 seats. Ideally more like a thousand.

I also have an autistic brother, so I of course loved this one.

As the brother of someone with Down's syndrome and autism, I think this woman deserves a high five

Oh no, I'm not wearing the Luftwaffe jacket! Just the first one as a nice coat over a shirt and sweater. A bit daring, yes, I went looking for a suit on a website and was only able to find this in my size. So, I saw the price, and was like "why not"? Indeed, your "Earl of Grantham" remark is a bit apt"- you all know I secretly wish I could dress like this (and no, not the dowager):

But I was really hoping to get a suit from this deal. I ended up with my nice two last jackets, from Huntsman, for a mere $60 for the both! This jacket was a bit more (than $30), but look at the embroidery! Also offered were these that caught my eye, but, alas, they all were too large:

A shame. This, however, remained too avant-garde for me:

Here's the thing: it's okay to be a far left crazy person, but when push comes to shove you better damn well get in line and support The President, else you're as good as supporting the teabaggers.

Uh, no dude, sorry, that's just wrong. You sound like the caricature of what True Leftists think we Smart Leftists* are.

*Can I give my contribution to expanding the Atlas vocabulary?
