It's not like you haven't quit a job to look for another job before.

I will probably commence with the job search sometime in February.  We should have enough work to go into at least March, if not April, so I think if I got started in the middle of February, I should have enough time to look comfortably without having to worry about the end of this contract.

That is true, and I'm not denying that, but I'm not doing that this time.

Have you considered looking for a new job while working your current one?

Imagine how much weight Bushie would lose if he converted to Islam and observed Ramadan.

I once had an old Morrocan shopkeeper explain to me at length how Ramadan had been totally vindicated by modern science. A recent Arte documentary had rendered him aware of conclusive tests by the soviets on human subjects, proving that observing a day-long fast would be beneficial in all sorts of ways, not in the least by curing you of any schizophrenia you might have laying around your top chamber. The key, however, was to not give in to the craving presented by western society and stuff your face with French fries the moment the sun disappears behind the house on the other side of the street, as his children sadly were wont to do. Much better to stick with the traditional foods reserved for breaking the fast, especially those really filling bits of pastry that will cleanse your mind while giving you diabetes.

Incidentally, I also once had a longish conversation with this Dutchman on a tour of the WWI front who was adamant that a self-imposed diet of bread and water had been key to starving away his religious mania, although he did graciously admit that the effectiveness of the treatment did largely depend on the patient being lucid enough to recognize himself as being subject to delusions. The cure had also left him with a much exaggerated passion for pre-1995 cars.

Any history of mental illness in Bushie's extended family?

Played well enough to win, ball bounced the wrong way. It happens. Certainly glad they aren't going into the abyss with a gimmick college offense like Philadelphia. The roster is being built the right way. Cool

Dez Bryant got robbed.  Any fan of the game should clearly see that.  However, Dallas has nothing to hang their heads about.  For the first time, Tony Romo is actually an elite QB.  Dallas will go into the offseason proud of what they accomplished this season and will come into training camp angry and with the proverbial chip on their shoulder.  Dallas can finally be considered one of the best teams in the National Football League.  No longer are we mediocre.  We are one of the best.

Yea... That Philly offense is TOTALLY what did them in this year.  Nevermind the awful secondary, backup QB, and injury to Demarco Ryan.

Hahahahahaha eat ass, Cowboys!

Every team has injuries. The up tempo pace of the Eagles offense has never worked in this league. Ask Warren Moon. It's just an objective observation.

Good question:  Honest answer is about an 8.  It is definitely a great job.  There is one person that is a little hard to get along with, but he means well and is not all that bad.  He definitely knows how to do his job.

He is the assistant lead drafter and he gets on to me for every little error I make.  I don't make that many and I do learn from those I do make.  I understand where he's coming from, though, but he expects perfection.  Granted, the drawings have to be right before we send them out, but he throws a good guilt trip for every little mistake.  That all said, once in a while he will crack a joke with me every now and then.  I know he likes me, which I guess is why he's harder on me than it seems like he is my co-workers.

So he's in a position of supervision? Is he more or less responsible for you than is the lead drafter? Do you have teams and such?

He's the third in command so to speak, right behind the supervisor and team lead.  He has no real authority other than to help the lead with the delegation of the work.  Ultimately, our success falls on the shoulder of the lead.  The boss handles all the administrative duties and the lead and assistant lead handle all of the actual work.  The boss can do the work, but he's usually got other fish to fry.  Technically, I am right behind the assistant as I've been there the longest of the temps.  I will never be called on to lead, as if all three of them are gone, we're all gone.  Since there are only 9 of us including the boss and leads, we are all one team.

Did no one tell you that when it comes to technical drawing (i.e. the trade by which you currently earn you daily bread) precision is the thing? Of course the assistant lead drafter gets at you for "every little mistake" you make. If he didn't he'd be negligent and would deserve to be fired. Mistakes in that business cost money and damage reputations. I point this out because businesses are not charities (even if some charities are businesses) which means that if you do not cease to make 'little mistakes' you will certainly be fired.

Every professional environment expects perfection, Bushie. You're not going to find a dream job where nobody cares.

Well, actually you did, but you quit it because negro coworkers were smoking reefer.

God that job was amazing. Probably the worst mistake Bushie has ever made imo.

This is why I keep insisting that Jeff needs to get into the Christian nonprofit sector, where the metrics that determine success are often more qualitative than quantitative (and certainly not things that succeed or fail because one of a thousand gears was 0.00037 centimeters too big) and errors and failures can often be BS'd away. Surely there's some foundation out there that does work in Kenya and needs someone like Bushie to be a program coordinator who teaches the participants how to "love on kids" before they head off to Africa.

I know my field demands perfection and he needs to point out the mistakes, but he doesn't need to make me feel small over said errors.
