How funny, Texas A&M is actually on my list of places to go for my Masters.

My current list looks like:

Texas A&M (Education) [-in progress-]
Oregon State University-Cascades (MFA Creative Writing) [April 1st]
Oakland University (MA in English) [May]
Eastern Michigan University (MA in English) [May]
Belmont University (Education) [July]
Mary Baylor-Hardin (Education) [no deadline]

DELAYED
New England College (MFA in Creative Writing)
Queen's University of Charlotte (MFA in Creative Writing)
Oregon State University (MFA in Creative Writing...may switch to Education)

I had two applications I was working on, but car troubles [that Nebraskan wasn't the only one to get a stick-shift this month] and employment troubles forced me to pull back things a bit. It also forced me to reconsider registering for the Virginia primaries, but since my residency is all over the place and I'll be voting as an absentee Californian in the general anyway...meh.

Helped my county GOP set up their new campaign office, got some free merch for it.

I am so glad I'm almost done with my Bachelors.

Update: May be forced to delay Texas A&M application because of the huge time crunch on getting the letters of recommendation and transcript in.

I got my eye taken out last Thursday and I'll get a fake one in about a month or so. Good times, good times.

For real? Shocked

oh wow. i hope you're okay (or at least as okay as possible)

Yeah, it's a bit uncomfortable all the time/painful some times, but the swelling should go down over the next month or so before they put in the prosthesis.

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear this. Good to hear you aren't in agony, though. May I ask what happened?

This didn't belong in another thread, so I thought I'd post it here. I had a dream that these were the Republican Nevada results:
Trump: 56%
Cruz: 14%
Rubio: 12%
Kasich: High single digits
Bush: IDK, might have dropped out
Carson: IDK, might have dropped out
I don't remember anything else but Trump declaring victory. Let's hope this isn't a vision of the future.

I'm running for a post in my course society exec as (and I quote what the guy in question said) as a 'stalking horse', because the guy who actually wants to run (and I support) is too afraid that the favourite to win the position will just stump him and will send out their 'acolytes' (another choice quote) to bully people into not voting for him. So I basically have to test the waters to see whether my mate has a chance of winning or not. It's a rather sad indictment of his bitchy uni 'politics' can be Tongue

There's someone I've only met a handful of times and haven't thought about in years.

Today he announced that he was running for state representative, and I immediately sent him a Facebook friend request, because I thought it would be cool to see his perspective.  It occurred to me afterwards that he's probably wondering now who the heck I am.

(I assume his chances are pretty good, since he was prepared to launch a campaign mere hours after the incumbent announced that he wasn't seeking re-election.)

I've always been blind in that eye, and I decided to have it taken out and replaced before I go off to college because overall it causes more trouble than it's worth (what with the increased sensitivity and the pain it can cause).

I'm considering running for City Council because of how much of a s***fest it's become recently.

No, no, this is a good thing (in the long run, of course)! Sucks about the overall eye situation, and the process at the current moment, but in a month or so I'll be much better off than I ever was before.

What happened to cause the blindness if you don't mind my asking?

It's called retinopathy of prematurity; the retina detached somewhere in utero and shriveled up.

Just wrote a shamelessly name-droppy paper (it's primarily discussing Kant, Maistre, and Schleiermacher but with references to Hamann, Herder, Coleridge, Wordsworth, Kierkegaard, multiple Rossettis, Pope Leo XIII, T.S. Eliot, Flannery O'Connor, Isaiah Berlin, Kobayashi Yoshinori, and more) for a class with the deeply arresting and alarming title 'Christianity Engaging Modernity'.

Welp, Tuesday happened.

I found out that I'm shorter on money than I expected.

I wasted time, effort, and transcript space [thank heavens not money] applying to a place far out of my league just because of miscommunication...I can't even do the online program until I live in Texas.

Also, while trying to figure out something embarrassingly minor on my phone, I ended up erasing the ability to read my own texts or see my calls going out in the log. I can see texts coming in, and I reckon I should be able to get calls...but wow, this is bad.
