I never thought I would see the day when Atlas posters obsess over the stock market. Typically Atlas has zero interest in such things, and investing and so forth, in part I guess because a high percentage of posters live off their parents and the like. Yes, I know, Trump latest crime against humanity is politicizing the Dow. Shame on him!

Lol, Boomer musings.

So, let's look at things overall. In three of the four races tonight, things went as expected in Missouri - Republicans win, Democrats lose. The loss was wider than I expected in 39 and 129, and smaller than I expected in 144, but still the republicans won as expected. But in District 97, we saw a vastly different result, with a Democrat winning a very republican seat, a disastrously improbable event. Looking at the county results, it is apparent that the Jefferson County vote, which is way too democratic, was the victim of voter fraud. Democrats likely bused voters from other districts in just enough numbers to illegally flip this race. What this should do is mobilize every resident of Missouri to keep careful watch over their respective polling place and do all they can to stop future fraud. I encourage the republican candidate in HD-97 to pursue electoral fraud charges for the Jefferson County portion of the district in state court as soon as feasible.

^ I was headed to the funny posts gallery, but this works too.

One rule to live by is when a person starts ranting about their opponents busing voters in, you know they are full of sh**t and probably just can't stand being wrong / losing.

Honestly this may seem irrational but Wulfric annoys me almost as much as King Lear does. He seems left leaning given his strong opposition to the GOP agenda yet he insists on endorsing almost as many Republicans as Democrats, and yet is triggered by the word "socialism". If a thread on [insert Red state Dem party] pops up, he'll laugh at the party, but I haven't seen him trash say a non-Atlas Blue state GOP party. It's like he's scared of being called liberal and/or is just a troll who happens to provide well-informed analysis. I also don't like how strongly worded his stances are on abortion, but that's probably cause I'm far left on the issue, and he's by far not the only pro-lifer on this forum.

Wulfric is actually not a bad guy personality-wise, but the way I see it, his "enlightened radical centrism" is just an Atlas meme at this point, and should be treated as such.

We are witnessing social disintegration linked to immigration exploding as a red meat issue in Italy.
And the all-but-certain legislative beneficiaries of it (Five Star, the Center-right Coalition), and the likely crumbling that the Center-Left will suffer for some time, we now know reflects a Europe-wide phenomenon. That much is obvious.

But the results of March 4th in Italy are far more important than we realize. Once (as expected) the Center-Right takes the helm, only Greece, Sweden, Portugal and France (somewhat) will remain Left-governed on the Continent. Think of that.

Have we ever seen this in European history, post 1848?

Who foresaw that the Arab Spring (and, in particular, its apotheosis, the Syrian civil war) would also transform Europe?

After 4 years of a socialist and a man who at that point had been Vice President for 12 years. 2020 would probably be more like 1976 where an unpopular Republican President narrowly loses the popular vote to a guy who's far to the left. Then 2024 would probably be 1980 where in this casebook Bernie Sanders would be Jimmy Carter and Ted Cruz would probably be Ronald Reagan.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)/Frm Amb. Nikki Hayley (R-SC) - 312 EV - 50.0% PV

Pres. Bernie Sanders (D-VT)/VP Joe Biden (D-DE) - 226 EV - 48.1% PV

FDR who was social democrat lika Sanders(not socialict, there is a diffrence) re eleced free times,so no.
Lyin' Tedy Canadi will lose.

FDR was also a raging anti Semitic Nazi sympathizer who reluctantly fought the Germans in WWII.
The WWII helped for shure but the New Deal is the reason why he was one of the greatist presidents.

I just realized if FDR was alive today he would never vote for Bernie Sanders  of course cause Bernie is Jewish and FDR was pretty much a Nazi despite reluctantly fighting Nazis in WWII. He probably would vote for Trump over Sanders despite  some political disagreements he may have with him

All of Medal's posts in this quote chain are terrible, especially the part I bolded

The fact that [FDR] was a raging anti Semite who hated Jews and interned Asian Americans is something the left probably loves about him right?

I don't see why all the republicans are alarmed by Saccone. He seem like a decent candidate and decent human being, I of course support Lamb, but strategically wise I would give him and his campaign a B, I would give his decent human being rating about a B-, and I would rate his politics from my view as about a D. Not the best, but I don't see why the GOP is panicking.

That whole proudly torturing people gives him a significantly lower human being grade than B- in my book.

Not really a biggie in my book there, most of those people deserve it.

On a more serious note, I really don't understand the distinction between politics and "identity" politics.

If you understand politics to simply be the collectivization of interests (that is, people coming together to protect and promote things that are economically/socially advantageous for them) then basically all politics is an appeal to some sort of identity whether that be something like the business community, the higher-education community, the agricultural community or something more nefarious like BLM or White nationalism.

Putting up Black Lives Matter as something as bad as white nationalism.

Apparently being in the business community is analogous to white nationalism too.

This is, of course, absurd. California is establishment, sane, and, unlike Illinois, is a corporate magnet without corruption. Same goes with the undue vitriol towards Florida and New Jersey, which are Freedom States.

Have you ever considered that people may disagree with you about what constitutes sane?
Of course, but I doubt any American who understands their views thinks Jerry Brown and company are crazy or radical.

Forcing pro-life clinics to advertise abortions isn't "crazy or radical"?

I don’t want to sound like a nut, but automation is a serious problem (and has been for at least 30 years), and if the government dose not find a way to regulate it in a responsible way, it could potential destroy millions of jobs and excasterbate Americas income inequality to levels equivalent to a third world country. For example when I was on a vacation to Seattle last summer, I stumbled upon a Amazon-run grocery store (I think it was located at Amazons corporate headquarters) where people didn’t have to use a cash register and could just walk in and grab their groceries, and they only had one person working their. Can you imagine what would happen if Amazon (which recently bought Whole Foods), opened those grocery stores across America, and other grocery stores adopted the same idea to remain competitive? I can answer it for you, Millions of people in the service Industry would lose their jobs, and because the Republicans have destroyed most of our safety net (and plan on destroying the rest of it if Americans are dumb enough to give them more seats this year), most of these people would go into poverty and wind up on the street or in prison, which is exactly where the Republicans want anyone who happens to be underprivileged. And before people start saying “why don’t these people work hard and go to college and become doctors lawyers or accountants”, not everyone has the ability or opportunity to get higher education and high-end jobs, which is why we need to make sure their are professions available for people that aren’t born into privileged families.

I'm not a fan of the anti-frat rhetoric that is popping up these days, but I agree this is disgusting, but for a slightly different reason.  Sex cannot be meaningless.  The acceptance of casual sex has led to so many other problems in society (including the rise of sexual assaults, which come from a gray area in the world of one-night stands).

So you think sex should be meaningless and casual but also people should be extremely cautious about touching each other?   Good grief.
